Food "Chicken tenders" from Pappou's Pizza Pub

Post image

Money has been a bit tight lately due to losing my job in December. After a few weeks of eating ramen and peanut butter and jelly, I got a craving for chicken fingers so I decided to get some and treat myself. We all know how that usually ends up and well, here's proof. These are $12 "chicken tenders" from Pappou's on Baltimore Pike. I have no idea what these are but I'm not even sure they're chicken. They're small, squishy to the touch and smell weird. Jokes aside, I cut one open and it is chicken but due to the look and weird smell, I'm definitely not eating them. Lesson learned. I'll just stick with ramen, rice and bread until I'm back to working full time.

Dish sponge for scale (I didn't have a banana).

Wife and I are new-ish to DelCo (Chester) and our 39th anniversary is this weekend.

We want to try someplace new for a nice dinner. But nothing upper class or snooty. lol we are simple people.

We enjoy trying new places and food. So was wondering what you all would suggest?

Edit: no place in Philly please. We are not ones for busy city.

Food Cooper Sharp Cheese Sauce

Post image
109 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently moved to Delco area (Media area) and I was curious to see if anyone knew where I could find a cheesesteak with cooper sharp cheese sauce? I’ve had a few cheesesteak around here and they are good but just not as cheesy as I would like.

This place back home was owned by a Philly transplant and I LOVED their cooper sharp cheese sauce so much and hoping I can find a good replacement for that place.

I will also be happy to hear recommendations for a place with good whiz. I think I just like an exorbitant amount of cheese tbh. Thank you!!

Food Most affordable, family friendly takeout that’s not fast “junk” food

I need some new ideas. We have young kids and want some creative options for nights where we want to grab food out that’s not pizza or McDonalds, and also doesn’t break the bank. Any lesser known local joints we should add to our list?

Food New Asian Restaurant in Woodlyn/Ridley Park - WokHaus

Has anyone tried WokHaus yet? I was walking by yesterday and saw that Michael's was closed. So I went inside, had a conversation with the owner and ordered their wings, just to show support. Lemme tell you guys, it reminded me of Korean fried chicken and it was soooo damn good. If you're around Ridley Park, show these guys some love. It's about time we got a good Asian spot around here.

Food Solo Lunch Rec?

Im somewhat new to Delco and have a couple interviews tomorrow (one in Media and one in Wilmington). I have enough time in between to grab lunch, but not enough time to make sense to head back home.

Anywhere in Media or between those two places yall can recommend for an affordable, somewhat quick (or at least not slow) solo lunch? Im not a picky eater, just whatever is good 😊

Food Best cheeseburger in Delco

Who’s got the best cheeseburger in Delco? Just a basic cheeseburger and fries. Personally I’m partial to Charlie’s (Tim Special - IYKYK) but I’m trying to find another go-to… Yes I know about Zac’s and Freddy’s… but I want to know what your favorite is and what else I’m missing!

Food A cut above deli -newt sq

Growing up in delco, a hoagie from cut above deli was elite. Went back to visit this past weekend and got a spicy turkey. Completely different bread and not the same turkey at all.

Anyone else notice this change? When did it happen. Hoagie was still good, I’d say 7/10 but not like a 9.5/10 it used to be. What’s the reason here, cost saving?

Disappointing.

Food New takeout: Wokhaus

Someone posted a few days ago about this new place in the old Michaels in Ridley. We got takeout from there tonight and it’s pretty great. This is the garlic style chicken and beef lo mein. We also got spring rolls and the chicken came with a side of rice.

Talking to the owner, they’re waiting on their sign to arrive to do a grand opening but they’re still trying to get their name out. The place is clean but small, there is bar style seating but no tables.

Give them a try! Here’s their Instagram.

Rumors said Gordon Ramsay came to Wilson’s Secret Sauce to revamp it but it turns out that it was actually Robert Irvine! Came to try Wilson’s a week ago because of this and had a really good experience. Now, where did Gordon actually go cause that’s where I’m trying to go next!
