DTU This is not Delhi Technical University
I get that when posting you can sometimes choose the wrong sub, but please look at the logo or the name in the bio before posting.
There are so many posts about Delhi, that I believe it subtracts from those who are actually discussing or seeking information about DTU. I see it atleast a couple of times each week. Please do due diligence :)

DTU international student arrival time
Hi everyone, is anyone willing to share some information about what the visa process for international students is like?
Specifically, I was informed on my admissions letter that they would put my visa start date at Sept 1st, the first day classes start. Is this normal? Even the website states that usually the start date is August 1st, in which case I would have enough time to set up the basics before school starts.
Also, roughly, how do the visa applications usually go, whats the time line?
Thanks!

How to download Emails / make a backup from Outlook
Hi everyone,
I would soon be graduating and I would like to make a backup of my student email in outlook. What are my options ?
I tried the web version of outlook, I can only do one message at a time. The desktop version of outlook /Thunderbird option also doesn't work and requires admin permissions.
Has anyone made such a backup before ?

Hello everyone, I was planning to take the innovation in engineering course in august, but I am probably unavailable for the first week of lesson. Is It possibile to still take the exam? Are they strict on this?
Thank you for the help!

DTU Student Housing – Based on my current queue positions, when can I realistically expect an offer?
Hi everyone,
I'm an international student coming to DTU for the MSc in Computer Science and Engineering (September 2026 intake) and I'm trying to understand how the Copenhagen student housing queues usually move during the summer.
I've noticed that the queues have been moving steadily during May, but I'm not sure how much they typically accelerate in June–August when students graduate and move out.

If you usually have 48 tabs open at once this research might interest you
Hi, my name is Joyce and I’m doing my MSc in Human-Centered AI! I’m testing a Mixed Reality prototype for my DTU master’s thesis.
It explores a spatial interface for ADHD workflows, basically what it would feel like to bring your data into 3D space instead of keeping everything trapped in tabs and windows.
This concept was built through participatory research with ADHD folks, and I’m now looking to test the prototype with a few people to get feedback.
How it would go:
* a short intro + tutorial
* 5 data/work tasks you’d normally do on a laptop (organizing, clustering, sorting/retrieving, adding notes, comparing/synthesizing) ~30 mins
* short questionnaires before/after + a chat for feedback
It’s meant to be fun + explorative, especially if you’re curious about how Mixed Reality could help you interact with your information in a more hands-on way.
Time: ~60–75 min total
Where: DTU (snacks included 🍪)
Looking for: people diagnosed with ADHD or who self-identify and relate to ADHD-like patterns (e.g., task switching, losing track, overwhelm, procrastination/activation issues, forgetfulness, difficulty prioritizing).
Note: this study is not compensated, but there will be snacks, and you’d be contributing to research on neuroinclusive interface design.
Eyeglasses note: the headset fits many glasses, but not all, if you have very large/thick frames it may feel uncomfortable. If you can comfortably use contacts or go without glasses for a short session, that’s easiest.
If you’re interested in participating, please book a slot here:

Or just email me if you have questions / prefer a different time. (s243948@dtu.dk)

Expected grade( seniors please guide me)
Hi senior, I am a 1st year student at DTU and wanted a rough idea about expected grades based on relative grading.
Maths-2: Midsem: 18/25 (avg 18.5) Endsem: 48/50 (avg ~30)
DSA: Midsem: 15/20 (avg 13-14) Endsem: ~35/40 (avg ~30) Decent viva + assignments completed.
CFT: Midsem: 12 (avg 7-8) Total marks: 41/60 while class average is ~22.6. Decent viva and regular attendance.
In our batch, usually only 6-8 students out of ~65 get O grade. Based on this, what grades can I realistically expect in these subjects?

DTU MSc thesis small sample size, best way to argue about it?
Hi, I’m doing my Master thesis and our sample size is quite small, 5. But it’s very specific and around people with special needs with whom we made a one month testing period of our solution.
It’s a software solution and because of our sample
size we can not really say that the outcomes are positive, statistically.
Do you have any tips? I am going for sure to mention all these in the Limitation section, but thinking about best way to approach the results discussion.

Find an accommodation
Hi everyone, I’m an international student starting an MSc at DTU and I’m trying to figure out housing. I’m undecided between staying near campus (like BDTU/Lyngby) or closer to Copenhagen for more social life and possibly better student job opportunities.
How hard is it to find accommodation? Which areas would you recommend for DTU students, and what’s the best way/websites to search for housing?
Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated, thanks!
How

DTU Rescinding Masters offer at DTU after acceptance
Hey everyone,
I got accepted into Msc in Autonomous systems and the uni wants an answer by the 15'th of June wether i accept the offer or not.
This program is my second option, and the place i really want to go to is a different Masters from RWTH aachen in germany but they give answers much later somewhere in july/august since they start in october.
My question is, is it possible to accept my offer at DTU and later rescind it if i get into the masters at aachen, and also rejecting the accepted accomodatikn offer from pks (since you technically need to be studying to live there)? What could be the worst thing to happen?

Admitted to MSc Sustainable Energy Systems: Need a reality check on DTU vs KTH
Hi everyone,
I have been admitted to the Master of Science in Sustainable Energy SYSTEMS at DTU and I am currently evaluating this opportunity against an offer from KTH in Stockholm.
I am looking for specific insights from current students or alumni to help me make an informed decision, particularly regarding the academic structure and the transition to the industry.
My Background:
I have completed my Bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (Italy). While I value my previous education, the approach was predominantly theoretical. Having already started an internship in the Photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) sector, I am now seeking a curriculum that prioritizes practical application and industry integration. My long-term career goal is to become an Energy Manager for large organizations.
I would appreciate your feedback on the following points:
- Practical Application: To what extent is the Sustainable Energy Systems program "hands-on"? Are there significant opportunities for laboratory work or projects conducted in collaboration with industrial partners?
- Curriculum Balance: My Bachelor’s degree was heavily focused on thermodynamics and industrial engineering. How manageable is the curriculum for students who do not have an extensive background in electrical engineering? Are there specific tracks focused on Energy Management and Building efficiency?
- Location and Logistics: Since the campus is located in Lyngby, I would like to understand the impact on daily life. Do Master’s students typically reside near the campus or commute from central Copenhagen? Does the distance affect the social integration and the "city experience"?
- Cultural Integration: As an Italian student, I am aware that social dynamics and professional relationships in Scandinavia differ from the Mediterranean model. How would you describe the international community at DTU and the ease of building a professional and social network?
- Industry Links: How effective is the university’s connection with the renewable energy industry regarding student jobs and Master’s thesis projects?
I’m really looking for an honest take on this. I want to make sure I don't just choose a "beautiful city" but also the best environment to grow as an engineer.
Looking forward to hearing your experiences.
Thanks a lot!
