Even the rare cases where they aren't depicted as lovers, they're depicted as one sided love and grand friendship.
Imagine one day Genshin releases a new region with two characters shown for the first time ever and their names, revealed for the first time, being Romeo and Juliet, isn't it natural to view them in a romantic light ? The same exact thing goes for Arlebina.
Is saddens me to see so many people blindinded by their self insert ships that they think they can shit all over another. I have no problem with Columbina being shipped with the Traveler, but it shows how most of the people here don't just enjoy Aebina because of the dynamics of the two characters but because of their fantasy on a female character. That or they're just plain homophobic.
I was so happy to see a post on this ship but the comments really threw me off. So excited to see them interact, finally ! Courage comrade and do not let disheartening comments like these cloud your enjoyment for Arlebina.
STFU. I swear that's exactly what Yuri shippers are, using only things that are convenient for them. I don't see the characters fully matching the play, Capitano isn't a coward, Sandrone is a girl and isn't married to her robot, and so on.
I never said they ARE their Comedia Del Arte counterparts, I just explained how the ship came to existence when all we had as informations were their names. For the info, Sandrone and Pulonia are brother and sister instead of a married couple in Genshin, Columbina and Arlecchino are friends instead of romantic and those are the facts. Capitano isn't a coward, you are completely right, but he's still a captain isn't he ? Dottore isn't an idiot, but he's still a doctor. Pantalone isn't Columbina's dad, but he's still obsessed with money. Arlecchino isn't a man wanting to win the heart of a woman but still a "plotting in the shadows" type of person. The Genshin counterparts aren't EXACTLY like their inspirations, of course, that would be plain boring. They're a fun twist of the characters using inspirations from the most famous play of Italy, that's what they simply are. Pantalone and Dottore are still best of friends in both medias, same for Columbina and Arlecchino who are still close in both versions. It's a canonical fact that you can't deny. You can disagree with the ship all you want, it has a valid reason of existing and even if it didn't, why do you care ?
The fact that Columbina and Arlecchino are both women have nothing to do with why they're being shipped, just like the fact that any ship in media is not only recognized because they are either between same sex characters or different sex characters. Shipping something because it's straight or gay is just cringe. You ship characters because of history, dynamics, designs, personalities or hell even because of their relations with a freaking element (Elsa and Jack Frost for example). Shipping is made to be fun and for everyone to enjoy on their own accords, trashing on people for liking a ship you don't like is immature and just painfully idiotic. Don't like ? Don't consume. Why waste your time engaging in something you don't like ? You're only making a fool of yourself.
Saying "Yuri shippers" as if it was an insult is actually baffling. You don't ship women together ? That's your problem, not mine. And by the way Yuri doesn't mean what you think it means. Yuri and Yaoi are terms to describe porn of same sexe couples in japan, nothing to do with shipping unless you consume porn content within a fandom (and that is your problem). The term you're searching for is probably saphic shippers but even then it just means "someone who ship girls together" and that really isn't an offense to anyone but you.
Shipping and Fandom as we know it came to exist thanks to a gay ship whether you like it or not. You might not like shipping in general, and that's okay, but just a reminder that the very reason you can talk about this with me currently is because women liked imagining two guys holding hands. The reason I despise a certain subreddit and it's users is because the male MC being heterosexual is the bane of their existence and it's goddamn insufferable. They make my blood fucking boil. I left a certain character subreddit because of them since I don't feel safe being active there expressing what I like.

honestly yeah. internet shippers are always dogging on people who ship things they dont, and it pulls down the rest of the community with them. gay people get bad rep for toxic bl shippers, straight people get bad rep for toxic het shippers, nobody wins..
I have feeling that they both should get along pretty easy coz they might be familiar. Like, both powers coming from Moon's; while trailer said that world denying "her" and we saw in God Limits how Columbina was glitching. But that might be the case for Arle and her idle glitching too - denying by world coz dead Iridescent Moon, and Arle prolly want to reach this source in Luna2.
Who knows, there might be some huge lore changes after AQ regarding Arle and her powers, unless Rerir successfully take over Crimson Moon remains.

Shippers will straight up invent reasons to ship two characters, even if they absolutely hate each other's guts or don't know about each other's existence in canon.
well its fun! i've acted like a parrot in these replies but i will say again that shipping is a fun way to explore the writing of a character harmlessly through interaction and dynamics and hypotheticals.
shipping is about exploring characters through character dynamics and interactions. they'll be interacting quite a lot in the next update, so we get to explore that. i think it'll be fun to see what kind of relationship they have (it'll be platonic in cannon, of course), after so long of the vaguest idea that they like eachother.
This is the only reason why the “ship” was popular in the first place. People will seriously ship two characters together because they’re just standing next to each other
