Affirm Charged Off Current Account
Has anyone else had an issue with Affirm suddenly charging off a current account that was paid as agreed?
I had multiple installment loans that were current with on-time payments. Out of nowhere, Affirm marked them “charged off,” changed the balances to $0, and then refused to allow additional payments through the app or customer service.
What’s even stranger is they referenced a bankruptcy from 2017 even though these loans were opened in late 2025, years after the discharge.
I’m trying to determine whether this is an isolated issue or if others have experienced similar reporting/account handling problems with Affirm.
Also, if anybody has a phone number to their legal department, I am getting absolutely nowhere with their customer service.

that’s weird a change off happeneds 180 days of no payments on account and thats banking rule for institutions for most debt. If you have been paying them that something you should dispute with the credit bureaus that type of mistake really weird.

Never heard of that happening. Did you have an Affirm account prior to your 2017 bankruptcy?
First, view your credit reports directly through the credit bureaus or via AnnualCreditReport.com (official site). To see more details than what many 3rd party sites show. Then dispute the tradelines (charge offs).
If needing to escalate, start with the written contract. Have you read the various agreements? That's what controls. Arbitration may get the ball rolling, but is a more formal, drawn-out process than just dealing with regular customer support. Doubt calling the legal dept will accomplish much assuming you can even make direct contact. Could try sending them a letter via USPS certified mail or FedEx.
If somehow related to the bankruptcy, contacting an attorney (ideally the firm that helped filing yours). Will cost some money, but may get better results faster than doing it yourself.
Hopefully someone here has more suggestions. Very odd situation.

If you had an Affirm account, and had a balance on them when you filed your bankruptcy then you would have had to list them.
If you had an Affirm account and had a zero balance with them, then you are not required to list them.

The issue is…
12/1/2017 - Ch 7 filed 3/12/2018 - Discharged 12/23/2025 - New Affirm loan - payments on 1/21, 2/17, 3/19, 4/20 5/8/2026 - loan charged off - Customer Service cited 2017 bankruptcy as the reason.
You can’t make this stuff up. I just need somebody at their corporate headquarters to contact me and take this seriously.

This happened to me but I filed bankruptcy after I had already had the loans. So it’s kinda weird that they would charge them off if you filed bankruptcy 9 years ago. Hopefully you get it figured out!
