Timing

Is this an acceptable tolerance? Trying to tim my engine and its my first time.

if you want to be 100% certain, count belt teeth between each mark. The dimples on the backing plates are approximate, what's important is the line on the belt matches exactly with the dimple on the gears. Lastly, rotate the crankshaft with a breaker bar and socket through 720 degrees (all the way around twice) to ensure no valves are hitting the pistons (note this is easier to do by hand if you have pulled the spark plugs first since you will not have to fight cylinder compression)

Appreciate it just unsure of the half a tooth off. But myteeth count is correct so far

Are your marks the old belt or the new one? If it is the old belt, being off is from belt stretch.
