U16/20/23 are age group divisions. Under 16, under 20, under 23.

Final X is a best of 3 event between the top two wrestlers at each weight class, in which the world team is decided upon. The US Open is one of the tournaments that can act as a qualifier for Final X.

if final X is for the world team, what are the World Team Trials for?

That's also a qualifier for final x. There is 3 ways to qualify for final x.

Medal at the previous world championships.

Win the us open

Win world team trials(only happens in weights where we didn't have a medalist at worlds)

Final X is also only for deciding the Senior World Team. U17,U20,U23 are decided differently. I’m not as versed in how they are decided.

I thought they just wrestled 17/20/23 nationals and whoever won the tournament qualified for the world team
