This is really really good news!
Amul already has like 50-60% of the dairy market share in West Bengal so it will be really beneficial for it to setup a plant here so as to give jobs to the locals. I am hearing it will be a curd processing plant so I hope prices will decrease a bit.
Yesterday in news saw Dilip Ghosh visiting the Haringhata Dairy Plant & talking about the problems there. Hopefully this will spur up Mother Dairy to increase production.
Healthy competition is always welcome. Mother Dairy needs to work hard to regain market share.
My only complaint is that we should get such food parks in Purulia & Bankura as well. We have a huge number of farmers here who can benefit from them & malnutrition is a big problem amongst the rurals in the region especially Purulia. Such cheap availablity of milk will really help here. Also towns like Asansol, Raniganj, Durgapur, Bankura, Purulia, Siuri which have large demand & growing population can be really helped by such a park.

I don't understand why our district(purulia , Bankura)is having less industries as compared to other districts.

Historical neglect + Political causes + The Resource Curse
United Manbhum district was one of the most resource rich districts of India but thanks to Bengal partition of 1905 it went to Bihar. Then in 1956 it's most prosperous areas like Dhanbad subdivision which today forms the Dhanbad district & Chas & Chandankiyari CD blocks which today form the Bokaro district were given to Bihar in 1956 leaving the unindustrialized portions with Bengal as a part of the Purulia district.
Eastern Bankura is a major agricultural area so all focus went on agriculture there. As a result Western Bankura & Purulia district remained under neglect for years.

Its good thing. Amul already has milk procurement and distribution centres Here in some parts of North Bengal.
They give better price for milk than local milkmen (dudhwala). And they don't refuse the amount of milk you want to sale. They send Payments in Wednesday every week directly to bank account.
Price of milk depends on amount of fat, meaning buffalo milk gets you more money than cow milk

Amul destroyed almost everything in the south. South er ekta nijessho dairy business ache, nam Nandini bole. Twitter e anek age porechilam je, amul er corruption er jnyo Nandini r market anektai kome gechilo. So southeners started advocating buying Nandini which was far better in quality.
I sometimes believe, the youngsters here on reddit should open a twitter account first. Radicalised howa public gulo, ektu holeo gyan pabe.

Nandini is the brand of BAMUL, a cooperative of Karnataka only. In Siliguri we had Himul. In Chandigarh I used to enjoy Verka.

Just look at how amul usurped the supply chain and distribution network of the tamil nadu state dairy farm, aavin back in 2023.

Bengal govt should have to give pressure to West Bengal Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Ltd. (WBCMPF) for expansion in every area just like other state milk diaries Verka,Vita etc.

What will happen to Haringhata? That was a good initiative but failed miserably in the state
