Since installing the latest update in Vivaldi (8.0.4033.28), I have experienced massive issues with uBlock Origin 1.69 (non-Lite). Maybe the timing is a coincidence, or it is a result of the update, I don't know.

Anyway, I now consistently get errors when playing videos:
"An error occurred. Please try again later (Error ID)"

I can reload the page, and sometimes, after several 5+ reloads, it will play the video. Sometimes reloading 20 times does nothing.

Disabling uBlock Origin solves the error, so the source of the error is clear.

Is it an issue just for me or is this the beginning of the end for uBlock Origin? I would hate to switch browsers again, as I really love Vivaldi for everything else.

(Disclaimer: yes, I know about Lite. I know about Manifest V2/3. And Youtube Premium.)

Edit: Solved - turns out Vivaldi itself has settings for 3rd party autofill.

I've been using Bitwarden, and it only auto fills maybe 25% of the time if I'm lucky. I just set up KeyPass DX, and the workflow for that seems a little involved for a password manager. I'm wondering what other people use, aside from the browser password manager (I'm looking for something along the lines of a Bitwarden).

Years have gone by, I've wrote to Disney support etc. etc. but need to keep additional browser only and only for Disney+. Was hoping that it'll get sorted out but it's so unpractical and I'm mad to switch browser just to watch content with kids there instead of having a clean and "all in one" solution.

What do you guys do? Is there some solution I might be missing? Tried various settings, user agent switchers from extensions etc. Worst is HBO for example works like a charm.

EDIT: It's most likely how D+ handles accounts. My regions is en-gb and my location is retrieved from IP, it's a smaller country supported but apparently going with UK. Both are supported, all valid for years (so no mambo-jambo). Since URL is en-gb (it actually flashes for a moment) and then it says "IP is from XY country" it isn't working. Firefox and Edge apparently (at least how I was explained elsewhere) send those info a bit differently why my only option atm is to use a 2nd browser only for it. If that's the case, then too bad, but it is how it is.

It seems I solved the problem, at least for videos that already fill the entire browser window like streaming services such as Netflix: just use Vivaldi's fullscreen instead of the video's fullscreen. It's still annoying everywhere else, but I think I can live with it. Thank you to the kind internet stranger who marked this as solved. I spaced out on that this time.

I'm able to do this for Chrome and Edge using Windhawk, but is there some way to do it for Vivaldi? I'm using version 7.9.3970.67.

Edit: Funny. I was just thinking "Normally I could remove this with CSS, but this is a chromium browser." Shortly after that, Reforced16x came in and told me the good news.

Edit: It turns out that I could if I could get this message to stay there until I say it's ok to disappear. The Dev Tools Console doesn't let me continue looking at the code when it disappears, and there's no way to get it back. I always have 4 seconds to work with it, and it's not enough. I have the CSS selector, but I don't know where to put my CSS file. The instructions I found don't say where to put my CSS file. It sounds to me like I have to tell the Dev Tools Console where it is, but I can't get to that point because I only have 4 seconds to make it there. It seems every time I get close, I can just barely make out that I could move on if that message were to be held there until I say it's ok to disappear.

I want to be able to drag my windows around, but enabling autohide just doesn't let you do that. I like that autohide lets you choose what you want to autohide, so the fact that I cant choose for this one specific thing confuses me.

The title , I just don't find any option in all settings to auto hide vertical tabs and show them on hover... Just updated to last version 8.0... someone more clever could clarify me this issue please

Hi, I recently decided to try out Vivaldi (version 7.9.3970.67 in macOS 15.7.5), and I'm running into an odd issue. The only LAN resource I can reach with Vivaldi is the web interface to my router. Everything else results in:

This site can’t be reached
[redacted] is unreachable.
ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE

I can reach those resources (Proxmox, Synology, etc.) with other browsers on the same machine, so this is a problem isolated to Vivaldi. I get this message when I try via IP or DNS. I've looked in Vivaldi's preferences and nothing jumped out at me as a feature that would cause this issue, but maybe I missed something? I don't have any issues getting to any websites outside of my LAN. Hoping someone can shed some light.

Hey, I hope someone can give me a tip or some help. I'm using Vivaldi on a Raspberry Pi that's built into a touchscreen. Of course, with my fat fingers, I accidentally activated auto-hide mode instead of full-screen.

How do I get out of it without a mouse pointer (touch only) and without a keyboard? Can I remove or disable the auto-hide feature in the menu? It’s really not fun so far... but I’m glad others are enjoying it. The operating system is Ubuntu (latest version).

Unfortunately, I can’t check the Vivaldi version because I don’t see any way to access the settings or the browser toolbar. I only have a white frame around the content that lets me resize the window. “Holding” with my finger just triggers the typical right-click on the website itself.

Now, when I quit Vivaldi, it automatically restart and there is no way to keep it closed.

Googled about this issue cannot find any solution.

Nothing is changed from previous installation, what's going on?

I haven't modified my system or changed any vivaldi settings in a long time, this error just popped up during an update couple of days ago, and then today (Version 8.0.4033.34).

The browser works despite of this, but i would like some tips on how to safely fix it.

So I'm running into a new issue with YouTube. Most random videos I watch can be viewed in 4k no issue but for some reason movies that I have purchased will only run in 1080P. I have YouTube premium and this issue is baffling me. I have tried hardware encoding on and off as well as energy saving modes and memory modes. Nothing seems to make it work. Anyone have any ideas for me? Wanting to re-watch Hacksaw Ridge but 1080 doesn't cut it.

So i previously installed the browser but after a while i uninstalled it.

today i decided to give it another try and:

- installer not working properly i had to close the process manually and try at least 3 times

- after installing i got the messages you can see in the attached image

- IF it works takes 1min just to open home page

- IF it works anytime i open the browser i have to start from scratch (import favourites and stuff)

- imported bookmarks don't work at all

well nothing is working. i want to get rid of it. yes i already used revo to delete everything but some files can't be removed even from revo and idk how to

Long-time Vimium user on Vivaldi here. I've been dealing with a frustrating keybind issue for months and today I finally hit my breaking point — I need answers.

The Setup

I use Vimium for keyboard-driven browsing on Vivaldi, and it works great for almost everything. The problem is Shift+J and Shift+K (Vimium's "previous/next tab" binds). Instead of cleanly cycling through tabs, Vimium skips tabs, jumps across tab groups, and hops between workspaces. I'm pretty sure this is a Vivaldi-specific issue with how it exposes tab ordering to extensions.

My Workaround (That Mostly Worked)

I disabled Shift+J/K in Vimium and remapped Vivaldi's native "Next/Previous Tab (in order)" actions to Shift+J and Shift+K in Vivaldi's own keyboard settings. Tab switching worked perfectly after that.

The catch: Whenever my cursor was in any text field — forms, search boxes, editors, anything other than the omnibar — pressing Shift+J or Shift+K would do absolutely nothing. No tab switch, no capital letter. Just silence.

My first name starts with J. I have been unable to type a capital J in a text box for months. My workaround has been to open a new tab, type "J" in the omnibar, copy it, navigate back, and paste it. For one letter. I wish I was exaggerating.

Today I Snapped

I went into Vivaldi's keyboard settings and removed the Shift+J/K binds entirely. Reverted everything back to default. Disabled Vimium completely just to rule it out.

Result: Shift+J and Shift+K still do not type anything in text fields.

No tab switching (expected), but also no capital J or K being typed. With nothing bound and Vimium off, those keys are just... dead in text boxes.

What I've Tried

• Disabled Vimium entirely
• Removed Shift+J/K from Vivaldi's keyboard shortcuts
• Restarted the browser
• Testing in multiple text fields (not the omnibar)

Questions

1. Has anyone else run into this? Is there a known conflict between Vivaldi's keyboard handling and these keys even after unbinding them?
2. Is there a way to get Vimium's tab switching to respect Vivaldi's tab groups and workspaces properly, so I don't need the workaround at all?
3. Is there somewhere Vivaldi caches or persists keybinds that doesn't get cleared through the settings UI?

Any help appreciated — I'd really like to be able to type my own name again.

EDIT: Solved — and it was my own fault.

Found it. Vivaldi has a "Browser Priority Shortcuts" setting (under Settings → Keyboard) which is a list of shortcuts that the browser will always intercept, regardless of what any website or extension tries to do with them. At some point during my early attempts to get Vimium's tab switching working properly, I had added Shift+J and Shift+K to that priority list — and then completely forgot about it.

This is why the behaviour was so confusing: even after I removed the keybinds from Vivaldi's shortcut settings and disabled Vimium, those keys were still being swallowed by the browser at a lower level. No shortcut would fire (because nothing was bound anymore), but the keys were also blocked from reaching any text field. The priority list was essentially a black hole for Shift+J and Shift+K.

Removed them from the priority list, and capital J and K are back. My name is whole again.

If you're ever in a situation where a key combo does nothing in Vivaldi — no shortcut, no typed character, no reaction at all — check your Browser Priority Shortcuts list. It's easy to forget it exists.

I have tried uninstalling Vivaldi and reinstalled the .deb package, but to no avail.

Googeling the error lead me to the Vivaldi forums, where users had similar issues for years. The suggested solutions there didn't work either.

• Importing the key and adding signed-by=/etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/vivaldi-browser.gpg to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vivaldi.list
• Changing the format to deb22 and changing the file extension to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vivaldi.sources

Does anyone have an idea, what I can try?

Hey everyone! Just wanted to say, Vivaldi is awesome. Easily my favorite Chromium browser, and just about perfect, save for one thing: The Proctorio extension, which I require for exams as a college student, does not work. I was wondering if there were any workarounds, or if there was something that could be done for this?

I understand this may not be fixable on Vivaldi’s end, as proctoring extensions like these can be quite particular, but I was able to successfully install it on the Helium browser (which is not on the officially supported list). Is there perhaps a Vivaldi-specific blocker going on, or might I need to toggle a hidden setting somewhere?

No version of Vivaldi has worked, regardless of OS or version (dating back to version 7.7 when I first tried Vivaldi) to now. I don’t have a “version number” for that reason – I don’t believe this is a version-specific issue. If nothing else, this is a general question, as I really want to be able to use Vivaldi (and leave Microsoft Edge, the best of the “officially supported” browsers to also have a mobile sync, something else I need). Please help anyone, i tried a lot of things that i found here and there in reddit but the bar color changes opposed to the dark websites. Idk what to do. If anyone has any more solutions please tell. I tried each of those settings one by one and relaunched but it didn't wok.

It works accurately for some websites like reddit, the whole thing turns orange, but i want to disable it permanently if possible

my sister's toddler played with it and mashed the keyboard, how do i revert it? i tried enabling the bookmarks bar and tab bar, all that etc in the view on the top left, but if i left they wouldnt stick, this kid probably pressed so many shortcuts.

I get this popup error message when I click any post on Reddit: "Your request has been blocked by network security. Please try to login with your Reddit account." It shows the post, but does not show replies. I am logged in despite what it says. Also, if I click the browser reload button the post and comments appear normally without error. This is not happening in other browsers. I'm using the latest version of Vivaldi on an M4 Mac with the latest macOS. (Vivaldi 7.8.3925.62 (Official Build) (arm64), macOS Tahoe 26.2)

I was deleting some notes I had, and I held the delete button for like 2 seconds. I was only trying to erase a few notes (I had a bunch of scattered notes that were almost empty), but for some reason Vivaldi suddenly deleted every single folder and note instantly. I had hundreds of notes saved in different folders, and now they’re all gone. They didn’t even go to the trash can.

Is there any way I can restore them? I unfortunately found out that my Vivaldi account had been logged out, and I don’t know for how long, so I’m afraid they might not have been backed up...

hello there ive been using vivaldi on and off for years, and im thinking about going back to it, i really like the default colour scheme with the white and red theme but i dont like the fact it changes colour per tab page is there anyway to stop that from happening, i apologise if this is a noob question but its something i never figured out.
