Which way to wind Victorinox watch?

Post image

Hoping this is the right place to ask — I tried posting in /watches but my post was removed. My husband has this watch and it stopped working presumably because he wasn’t wearing it every day. We don’t have the manual and aren’t sure which direction to wind it. Any tips for getting it ticking again?

Automatic watches wind by turning the crown in the clockwise direction. (you might have to pull the crown out 1-click first to do this) But, if the crown is a screw-down crown, you would have to unlock it first (by unscrewing it counterclockwise). Then, after winding the watch, don't forget to lock the crown again - by gently pressing in on the crown while you turn it clockwise to lock it.

Alternatively -- you could get the watch started by holding it in your hand, face-up, and gently shaking it back and forth for 30-45 seconds. (which turns the watch rotor, which will wind the watch enough to get it running again) This would be the easier method to get an automatic running again.

This is a quartz watch, if I'm not mistaken. It probably needs a new battery.

It's not an automatic or wind up, you need to get it's battery replaced at a local jewelry or watch shop.
