My beloved explorer had the perfect toolset except the nail file so I sacrificed the small blade that never got used. Ground the edge off, broke the edges all around, and hit one side with a diamond bit to rough it up to about a 1200 grit and then superglued 300 grit on the other side. It’s now more functional than the factory nail file

Does anybody know if it would be possible to laser etch a grit into a small blade instead of gluing sandpaper to it?

Possible absolutely. If you have the laser to do it. I imagine it would be quite good as the laser will leave a sharper edge where it cuts as well
