My beloved explorer had the perfect toolset except the nail file so I sacrificed the small blade that never got used. Ground the edge off, broke the edges all around, and hit one side with a diamond bit to rough it up to about a 1200 grit and then superglued 300 grit on the other side. It’s now more functional than the factory nail file

I am kind of "new" to the deep dive sak game...why do you pick an explorer over a companion or a deluxe tinker?

I like the old style glass magnifying glass, the name, the tool set and I slapped on the plus scales for the needle and ink pen

Not anywhere near as much as I imagine myself to. But it’s handy when it do. Also I feel like Indiana jones whipping it out looking at some old antique militaria at a show

Practically speaking I use them more now because with LASIK I have insane vision at range but I can’t focus on anything within 9” where as I used to be able to
