Burning after yeast infection

I really need help and some understanding regarding my situation. I first got a yeast infection in January (treated with **clotrimazole)**, and then later got another infection (cloteimazole again) and then I was diagnosed with Gardnerella. I was treated for that (I didn’t have a yeast infection at that time, mostly burning and irritation), but on the treatment I developed a severe yeast infection. This time, Canesten didn’t work, and even a single dose of fluconazole didn’t help.

Later, after using a vaginal suppository and taking another fluconazole pill, I tested positive for a yeast infection again. I then completed a fluconazole treatment on days 1, 3, and 7. Right now, I don’t really have the typical discharge that usually comes with a yeast infection, but I still experience intense burning and irritation every day. I feel like I’m going crazy. Sex is painful, and I can’t stop thinking about it all the time. It’s making me really depressed, especially because I’m constantly dealing with burning and pain in such an intimate area every single day.

I had a similar situation, I’d recommend going back and getting another swab test to check if there’s still some sort of infection, or do a microbiome test at home that you can ship off. Definitely keep pushing them for answers if they tell you that you don’t have yeast present or BV but still just give you antibiotics/antifungals (This happened to me many times). I don’t know where you are but if you can, I’d recommend seeing a specialist if whoever you’re seeing at the moment doesn’t give you answers. Good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions!

I’ve got vulvodynia after a long yeast infection and BV, I’ve had it for about 2.5 years but I’ve had a diagnosis for about 1 year. It definitely has got significantly better in that year and I can imagine I’ll get to pretty much normal function. But if you have some sort of nerve irritation to cause vulvodynia you’ll have caught it very early at this point so it should be a lot easier to treat. I’ve tried so many things including topicals, oral medication as well as a couple of different physio therapy things.

What do you mean by «if you have some sort of nerve irritation to cause vulvodynia you’II have caught it very early at this point so it should be a lot easier to treat»? Easier to treat?

Vulvodynia just means pain of the vulva. It can be caused by a number of things like infections but in my case I had a long yeast infection which over time irritated the nerves and caused neuro proliferation in the area, causing pain even after the infection itself was gone. It’s reversible, but will be a lot easier to do this if it’s not been there for a long period of time

I think it may be nerve related yes! If it all started back in january, is that a long period of time?

It’s definitely on the shorter side, I had 1.5 years and many women have it for years before they get a correct diagnosis and treatment

Take all of  above comments flodgexx advice! This is exactly my story just like this. I was left suffering with the exact type of thrush no discharge and then BV gardenella for 2yrs with no treatment because drs didn’t believe me so I was left to self treat with otc topicals and ine dose Fluconazole lots of boric acid, it all made it worse. Did a Juno bio to know my strains etc spent months trying to find a dr to treat me. Finally got put in itraconazole longterm in October and Clindamycin for BV. Infection LS cleared but now have aquired neuroproliferative vestibulodynia and I’m now trialing my last topical and oral medication(I’ve done them all)  Sorry my point is this happens to so many of us but if caught earlier and right treatment it will heal.

I’m at the point now of à vestibulectomy but first I’m doing everything medication wise which I’ve done all but this last option

Good luck keep advocating and get referred to à vulva pain specialist. Drs know nothing about this or very few do but don’t specialise in it.
