99 lbs down, how do you guys handle cookouts and bbqs on this

Post image

Combining vegan with everything else, mostly posting because I wanted to compare notes with people who have been through it.

28M. Down around 99 lbs over like 14 to 15 months on reta.

This is honestly the first progress photo I have taken that I actually wanted to share. What actually changed things was not overcomplicating every week. More walking, simpler meals, more protein, less random snacking. Once I stopped treating every slip like a disaster, things started moving.

I am not calling it done yet, I just finally feel like I know how to keep going.

Congratttssss this is legit one of the best posts I have seen!

Also here’s a snap of my impossible burger bowl I make a few times a week that’s so yum and satisfying. I sprinkle in chia and hemp too. Good idea for a cookout 😜

Congrats I know people on Reta that think it’s a miracle drug but you still need to put in the work. My neighbor gained weight because he thinks it’s a miracle drug that lets you eat anything you want. It’s still work. Also you look amazing.

Thank you I appreciate it. It’s not a miracle drug it truly isn’t. I had to track my doses in dosebook just to figure out what was active in my body because I would have days where I would feel hungry again and I needed to find my perfect dose. It was a grind and not a cakewalk like everyone claims it to be but here we are. Proud of the results

Reta is half the battle you still have to eat clean it just helps not have headaches all day for me

Absolutely, not claiming it's a walk in the park. I've been on mounjaro myself so understand how these drugs help you through the journey to better health and weight. Not something which was possible for me before without the mounjaro though

Are you a part of a trial?

Sorry not me - was just clarifying OP's post as it otherwise sounds like this was achieved by counting calories

To answer your question:

I usually will tell the host I’m vegan in advance. I tell them not to worry about me, but just an FYI. Most people will do something to accommodate you, even if it’s a just a tub of hummus or guacamole.

It’s also polite because the alternative is having an awkward encounter where the host asks you why you’re not eating and then you tell them when it’s too late and they feel terrible for not knowing.

Also if it’s ok to bring stuff, just bring something you’d want to eat.

Eat beforehand. Bring your own vegan hotdogs if you want. Bring fruit.

At cookouts, I sometimes bring my own veggie burgers, veggie chicken tenders, veggie dogs, whatever. There are usually things like veggie trays or chips and salsa that make good sides.

Wouldn’t hurt to pack a cooler with things like veggies and hummus, bean/chickpea salad, protein bars/shake, or whatever your favorite snacks are if there’s not the opportunity to cook your own veggie burger.

I tell the host I don't eat meat, I bring my out meat substitute/ veggies. Usually hosts will offer to cook it for me. I don't bother with having my own side of the grill or whatever.

I was raised in a "if you are a guest, you eat what you are given and be greatful" sort of way so honestly if I'm really in a bind I will just eat what is there. I've hardly ever had to do that tho in the 10 years I've been vegetarian/vegan. I used to feel guilty about that sort of thing but life is too short.

Awesome! I'm down 10lbs in 30 days myself.
