BJR doing pit work for Jackson Walls?

Just saw Walls pull in for a pit, into the BJR box at the end of the lane. I was under the impression that redbull was their parent team? Do they have some kind of agreement, or is it a quirk in the rules based on Walls championship position?

Both Triple 8 and BJR have three cars thus the third cars in both teams share a pit stall.

You can only have a max of 2 cars per garage so as BJR has only one car in a garage the walls car was put along side it, afaik they run 2 seperate pit crews as they are 2 seperate teams

That rec used to be BJR's last year until they sold it to Objective/Triple 8 for 2026

Not quite. The Smith family (SCT Logistics) owned the REC and paid BJR to run a fourth car for them, they took their REC over to Triple 8 who are being paid to run Walls’ program. Give it two years and it will be Tommy Smith in an SCT-emblazoned Triple 8 Mustang.

It was quite the topic of debate over the off season. T8 wanted all 3 cars together for ease of logistics. As did BJR. But with the active pitlane positioning meaning teams are situated based on Team Points, it was highly likely that it wouldnt be feasible. And why should other teams be disadvantaged in pitlane due to 3 car teams. So the lesser of the evils was to tie them to the lower positioned team. I was watching them work together in Ruapuna, and it was intriguing watching them talk over pitstops and position gear for pitstops, independently yet harmoniously too. A couple of discussions after slow stops where maybe Team A was a bit slow on the gun for Team B’s car or vice versa. But its a long season and cant get knickers in a twist over one stop. Plus, if there is one team to be associated with in pitstops, BJR is one of the best year in year out. Their pit boom has beautiful badges of honour of being the pitlane champs many times over.

Additionally, a rather interestingly to me, at that end of pitlane, three consecutive garages, three cars, 3 manufacturers.
