6" is overkill. I usually pack 3", maybe 4" if I don't know what situation I'll be sleeping in.

My wife’s boyfriend uses like 8-9” stakes. But every time I try to use my 4” stakes (which I think are plenty) she doesn’t let me hammer them in like she lets him :/
