Playing Posture

https://youtu.be/bG1kJ_8a_mA

I am watching a lot of videos lately that are giving me mixed advice and watching a lot of my favorite ukulele teachers on YouTube.

Am I using too much wrist? Too much arm?

Looks ok. It will get fine tuned as the motion becomes more natural.

If anything, your center of movement might be a little higher than it needs to be (too far towards your face: could just be the camera angle) - ideally centered over the strings. Right now the arc of your finger might hit the G- and C-strings more than the others.

Youtube is full of more and more bad advice every day. If you're not sure about something, find a video of someone playing and getting a result you like and figure out what they're doing. Any bonehead can call themselves a "teacher", but not everyone can use good technique to play well. Not every teacher needs to be a wiz player, but IMO you've got to be able to correctly represent an ideal version of what you teach... Copy people who actually sound good.

Thank you. This was really helpful feedback.

You're correct about YouTube. I've found good stuff and some stuff that just didn't work for me. It definitely speaks to why lessons and strum sessions are so helpful as online resources have no feedback.
