Character art Thread #61 Keine_Kamishirasawa (Also contest announcement in thread)

Welcome to the weekly character art thread, here you can post original art that you made.

Here's how it works. You can place art submissions

  1. Current week's submissions: Here you can post the good for if you want to make it a race to finish in that week, if you can't, don't worry, since that brings us to....

  2. Past week's submissions: here you can post art containing the past week's character. You can also post any submissions containing any past character here, from the previous week to the very first one with Kazami Yuuka

  3. Free for all art posts: Here, you can post whatever you want. It doesn't even have to be touhou related. It can be animals, plants, anatomy or just other touhou scenarios or characters.

In addition to that, you're welcome to discuss things like asking advice, ask how someone did something, and anything else that fits the conversation.

There's also 2 additional sections for other things

  • Discussion and planning: here you can brainstorm with other people for ideas, discuss the character, or anything else that feels appropriate. You can also ask for art tutorials here. I'll do my best to find you something, but anyone else is welcome to chime in and help.

  • Feedback and complaints: Tell me what you think can be done to improve, or anything else relating to the art threads. Please don't complain to me about you hemorrhoids or anything like that

Other things to note:

Each week, this’ll be synced up to the same character as the music threads. There will be Exceptions how ever, such as non specific themes, or if the character was used in an art thread recently. In these cases, a random character that has already been used in the music thread will be the focus.

RULES

  1. If you made it, you can post it. It can be whatever you want, so long as you made it. Digital art, traditional art, taxidermy, water color, music arranges or programming. Pretty much any medium you want.

    Don't worry about your skill level, you gotta start somewhere if you wanna get better. You can also post a friend's or relatives art, but with their permission.

  2. Be excellent to each other.

  3. The theme character should be in it if you're submitting it in the "Current week's submission" section, but apart from that, you can have any other characters you want in addition to that, and any setting. There's no deadline, but if you're late, you can put it in the next one, just say it's the character from the last week.

  4. Gore is allowed, but you’ll need to write in the comment that it has gore.

  5. NSFW is also permitted, but you'll have to tag it as NSFW.

Other things you can submit: You can submit art tutorials, and I’ll save them to a document, and link it here for easy access to help. I'll try to update them when I have the time.

Are Walfas comics acceptable?

Well, that's a bit iffy. I mean, it's more of a cut and paste program in't it? I've never figured it out, but know, Diamond is the rough was made in that, and people liked that, so yeah, you can post something made in it

I can clarify a bit: it's basically a 2D Garry's Mod/MMD sandbox program for Touhou. It contains tons of Touhou costumes, backgrounds, props, and everything you need for making animations and comics. Plus, as I've demonstrated in a recent animation of mine, it can be used for animating original works as well, and I got a friend who makes Garry's Mod comics in it.

The quality of Walfas images can be seen as either 80% writing and 20% editing (most comics and animations) or 80% editing and 20% concept (posters and images). It's not as much a tool for artists as it is for writers and graphic designers.

Though, I don't blame you for being iffy: Walfas has a bad history of people abusing its character creation system for OCs, bad writing, and bad editing. Though, the community as a whole has been making many leaps and changes: a bigger emphasis on vanilla Touhou stuff, cinematic camera angles instead of the flat images people used to do, and more collaboration/community-oriented projects. Of course, many newbies will continue to make the same mistakes, but the more the community raises its standards, the less we'll see these mistakes.

It's a rather goofy subject I'm really passionate about: my friends and I see a lot potential in the program, like (as I said before) a 2D MMD/Garry's Mod for Touhou. It just has a rough history we've got to patch up.

Well, if you're that passionate about it, you'll probably do more than a simple knock knock joke, so why not. Go ahead. It's the same as people doing dance videos and stuff in MMD and Gmod.

Also, sorry for the late reply, was gone for a few days and I had no access to the internet
