Advice Cover concept for a new story I want to start
It's a romance story with mild supernatural elements (the main character can see the future). It's about a boy who sees the future (ranging from about a week ahead to a few months) in his dreams but only ever sees bad things that happen. Then he has a dream of him on a date, which obviously scares him. Then, a week later, he's asked out by a girl and grade above him, which he accepts out of being flustered. Then, to his surprise, the date goes well, which makes him start to hope that his dreams will show happy future instead, while his new girlfriend tries to comfort him from his paranoia surrounding dreams. Rest of story ensues.
I wanted to write this for a few reasons. I wanted to move further away from the adventure action and fantasy stories I usually write (and never finish lol) and do something calmer instead. I also had the idea and really liked it so I wanted to develop it.
Anyway, what are your thoughts? Is it good? Bad? Should I change the cover concept?

Question Finding Good Photos For Character Boards
I've seen so many people posting images basically just giving their character a mood board or something of the sort (I don't know what they're called đ).
Everyone has great pictures, and I would like to make my own, but most of the pictures people find seem to all be found on Pinterest. I'm not allowed on Pinterest (parents đ), so I was wondering if anyone has other recommendations for actual good, aesthetic photos? I've used Google but none of the results are very good, and to find what I need it always takes an hour of rabbit hole-ing to find them, and I only get a few.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated đ thank y'all so much!

Advice first chapt of my horror novel NSFW
First Chapter of My Psychological Horror Novel
Hi everyone,
Iâm looking for feedback on the first chapter of my psychological horror novel.
Iâm mainly interested in opinions about:
the atmosphere and horror elements,
the main characterâs voice and mental state,
pacing,
whether the chapter is engaging and makes you want to keep reading.
!!! Content warnings: blood, disturbing thoughts, psychological horror, vomiting.
Thank you for your time and honest feedback.
Only I survived this night.
Silence. Blissful silence. For a long time, there had been a emptiness in my head so heavy that it was consuming me day by day. My insides were rotten; I was nothing more than a functioning corpse. This was supposed to be a fresh start, the end of a wretched vegetation. I was looking for something newâa new place, new people, a new idea of who I could be. I set out on a journey with no specific destination. My lonely road was meant to find the remnants of what I used to consider humanity. I left Yokohama two days ago.
Sleeping along the way and searching for something, I stumbled upon a small town with a blurred sign. I couldn't read it; it was painted over with blood. I don't know what I thought about thenânothing, I guess. Hunger and exhaustion, that was all that remained in my head permanently, even though I should have turned back. Any normal person would have turned back, but I hadn't considered myself normal for a long time. I walked past it indifferently and wandered for a bit longer until a small hostel appeared. It didn't really look like one; it was more like an ordinary house with a sign saying "lodging and food."
Seeing this, using the last of my strength, I approached the counter. After waiting for a minute, I noticed a woman. I stared at her for a long time⊠until finally, I began to laugh hysterically. Why? Because she is a worm. Just like me, just like everyone else. Wretched vermin crawling on this earth, needing to be eradicated. She looked just like everyone elseâdry skin, a blank stare, and a face that had lost its owner long ago. It belonged to no one. A corpse.
I felt an excitement so intense that I knew immediatelyâthis town was the right direction. Asking for a room and food, I closely observed her movements, reactions, body language. She was nervous, but her eyes remained dead. I often had trouble with emotions, but fear was something I could detect instantly. I felt a physical and psychological arousal; I don't remember where I knew this feeling from. The fresh scent of fear. Hunger stopped bothering me; this woman was the perfect worm to eat. I licked my lips and walked toward my room.
Only on the stairs did I notice that I had been digging my fingernails into the palm of my hand, until I felt pain and the warmth of blood. Looking at the fresh blood, I felt an incredible craving. I licked my hand andâwait, what am I actually doing? How did I get here? I'm on a strange bed, in a strange room. I had fragments of entering the building, but I didn't remember much.
The growl of my hungry stomach snapped me out of my thoughts, and I immediately remembered the promised meal. While eating the beef with rice, I didn't think muchâhardly at allâjust as I didn't feel anything. Again, the same endless emptiness filling me to the brim. A memory appeared, an image in my head. Blood. Beef. Rice. Fingernails. Egg. Eye. That strange excitement began to overtake me again.
I looked up from my plate. I didn't remember when they came in. Two people were sitting at the next table. Four. Ten. A hundred. Everyone was looking at me with the exact same stare. Blank. Loud, too loud. Vermin, that damn vermin. They kept watching me, checking if I was still there, if I still existed. The same stare, the same smell. Smell? Food, blood, covered in blood⊠with that interrupted thought, I rushed to the bathroom to throw up what I had just eaten.
Choking violently, I leaned against the sink. Wait⊠why don't I remember anything again? Fatigue. It must be fatigue. I went back to the room to rest after the trip. Empty, just the same as before, yet still different. Still different from everyone else.
Wait, where is everyone? The restaurant was full just a second ago.

Discussion do you guys have some more idea for my magic system
i been working on this world for more than a year, and I found my magic system to be bare bones, so I decided to start expanding on that idea and added new things before I start talking about  the thing I added her basic explanation of my old magic system
Part 1: What is the Cho?
The Cho is essentially the source of life and magic of every single living being. It acts kind of like a soul. There are two types of Cho: the normal Cho and the pure Cho.
The Normal Cho
The normal Cho looks kind of like a furry ball. It is separated into two parts: the inner Cho and the outer Cho.
- The inner Cho is the source of life.
- The outer Cho is the source of magic.
The outer Cho is not really an infinite source of magic. The best way I can describe it is itâs kind of like the fuel of a car. You can use it as much as you want, but it will always end up running out, and you have to refill it. The outer Cho is the same thing: if you use magic way too often, your outer Cho will run out, and you will not be able to use magic for a certain amount of time. It will refill after use, so you can use magic again.
The Pure Cho
There is only one species that possesses the pure Cho. This species is the Neko (placeholder). Here is all the information about the Neko:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Darkborn/comments/1rdtw9v/the_neko_an_accidental_species_born_from_ancient/
The pure Cho is made of only one crystalâlike part. It comes in many shapes and forms.
Unlike the normal Cho, the pure Cho has an infinite source of magic, but its downside is that using an excessive amount of magic causes great pain to the user.
Part 2: Spiritual Weapon
Every being is born with a spiritual weapon. It is a weapon linked to your soul that reflects you in every way, and the moment you die, it disappears with you. The spiritual weapon is unique to you and you only.
Here is the new thing I added
Mainly for the spiritual weapon, I have created some rules.
First of all, a spiritual weapon cannot be stolen, as it is attached to the owner's soul. It will always spawn back in its owner's hand when summoned, no matter the distance that separates them.
Secondly, when a spiritual weapon is broken, it will drain the magic powers of its owner to repair itself, severely draining the magic from its owner. This can last from a few hours to a day, depending on how severely the weapon is damaged.
Third of all weapon switching (I donât have a better name for it )
People are capable of exchanging  their weapons for a certain amount of time. The recommended  limit is 3 days.  If 3 days  time passes, the cho will start deteriorating rapidly, causing the death of the people who exchange the weapon. To exchange weapons, two people must agree on the specific amount of time the exchange will last before chanting a phrase that the weapon will be returned by the end of the designated time.
This is more related to both esery and neko biology.
Esery aren't  unable to use magic once their outer show is out; they can, but strictly prohibited by law, because once an esery decides to use an inner cho as a magic source, it will have only a few hours to live, but its magic capacity would reach to that of the level of a higher being, it will lose it mind and act like a feral beast.
For Neko, I just changed the rule of their magic  bit. As i said before when a neko use a to great amount of magic in short  period of time it will experience great pain, but  if a neko push through the pain  and keep using the same amount of magic their is a great chance it cho will crack not shatter but fissure, when this happen the neko fell into a coma state as it body fix it cho. Neko pure cho are made an extend usage of magic. What I mean by that  is that a neko can use âspellsâ that require a very low amount of magic for a very long time, talking about days or weeks, when an esery cannot do that because it needs to caution it magic to not run out of other choices.
type of magic this not very develop but their is like 6-8 big type of magic  i only have two really sorted out which is like elementary magic like stitch she has water and angele is suppose to fire and electricity but she has some technology related power maybe i can say that the magic adapt to the person personality and interest  and i donât know how to name me magic related to certain type of emotion people can feel or that can interfere with people in some way for example caspian magic is suppose to be related to desire . Maybe spatial magic, as Ivy has the power of teleportation for Nini, it is confusing cause her power is related to her love of art and drawing cause she can summon  ink monsters and basically temporarily create new things. Are even living beings using her magic as for milo and minje i still donât know. Exactly what the power . What I know is that there is something called general magic. I don't have a better name for it, which is telekinesis. Anyone and everyone can use telekinesis without it draining their sho or causing pain.Â
the reson telekinesis don't drain the cho is because
At first, there was only general magic, so telekinesis was the only magic people could use. Then, a being called the Messy was sent by the Goddess of Creation, Leno. Using the foundation of telekinesis which is manipulating objects the Messy created eight other types of magic. People are randomly assigned a magic type, but telekinesis remains the original magic. That's why everyone can use it without it having much impact on their cho. The Messy also created the concept of spiritual weapons.
When babies are first born, they can only use general magic. Their specific type of magic is revealed in toddlerhood. Babies can also have random outbursts of magic, like levitating massive objects and turning your house upside down. Telekinesis needs practice: you can't make people or heavy things levitate if you donât know the basics, and most people can only make small objects move.
Some Cho-born Illnesses: The first illness (unnamed) only affects Esery. In short, some Esery are born without an outer cho or with a very small one. These individuals are only able to use general magic, though they still have spiritual weapons. I created this illness for a side character. The other illness is cho degeneration, where the outer cho rapidly degenerates, making it so the Esery can only use telekinesis. In Neko, this illness is deadly because it directly attacks the pure cho.
Also in my world, there is something called magitology, or the science of magic. This is the study of magic to understand how it works. While some people are uneasy about magitologists trying to invent new types of magic (since the first magic types were god-sent), most recognize how helpful magitology is for society. The field has led to things like medication to recharge outer cho faster, painkillers for Neko, and is closely associated with the national hospital for cho-born illnesses. Magitology is not completely controversial people just dislike the idea of creating new magic types, but overall, it is an accepted science with schools and formal education.

Advice Critique the idea for a story I have been subconsciously planning for 2 years. (Ecological fantasy/eldritch horror)
Warning, relatively lengthy
My world is heavily inspired by Deep Ecology and folklore from Malagasy and Scandinavian culture. Yggdrasil is the centre of everything in the Omniverse and contains the infinite infinities infinite times. The smallest point on one of its branches is as large as the star UY Scutti which has a volume 5 billion times the size of the sun. Well, I know that shows Yggdrasil is not infinitely large, but is branches and matter occupy all the endless corners of the Omniverse so it technically is.
Our universe is tangential yet a complete part of Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil may be infinitely large but contains a finite, yet incomprehensible number of worlds, pocket dimensions and multiversal chains within itself. The most beautiful thing in the omniverse can be found in every single world and that is trees. Trees can do all the wonderful things they do do in real life but they are also connection points to other worlds.
Every single root a tree has is a different world. On average trees have 7-11 major roots which are like a map to the major pathways and contain millions of micro-roots each one a different world. Every single root is unique to a different world but there may be a tree in Burkina Faso and one in Sulawesi that lead to the same world but at different points in that world. The deeper and further the root is from the trunk the further the world is that it leads to from this one. The way to travel to another world through a tree is to hug or touch or to feel its power in your soul and close your eyes. As you do this you can feel your way through the network of the trees or trusts the trees wisdom to take you where you need to go they will transport your soul and mind through their network nourishing you spiritually as you also heal the tree when you pass through. Your body will materialise in the other worlds as your Essence and soul is transported through the tree. But travel can be dangerous if the tree is diseased, or if you are in a forest or jungle and don't know which tree you can from there's no telling which leads back to your world and trying to go back to your world from another if you don't know which tree is the one that connects is difficult. This is because the trees connect to different worlds and you would need to enter your world through a different world but this network is so complex it can take lifetimes of entering unpredictable worlds to get back to your own if you lose the tree or it is felled which kills the connection. The Branches of the trees also act as a map to indicate which worlds this tree is connected to that other trees roots, in another world will take them to this tree.
There are 3.04 trillion trees in the world, and each has millions of micro roots that is a staggeringly large amount of other worlds reachable from this world alone. These other worlds all have varying numbers of trees. Imagine trying to map this thing which there is a society trying to do but It gets harder because new connections form as new trees are planted and root's deepen overtime.
The most important tree in our world is the Baobab. Unlike the other trees which connect us to the other worlds, surrounding Yggdrasil like pollen. The Baobabs connect our world to Yggdrasil. What makes them different is what is unique about Baobabs appearance in real life. Their branches are bizarre and look like roots giving them the nickname "the upside down tree". In my world this is because they actually are upside down. The roots which we think are the branches protruding out connect them to Yggdrasil's main body which is what lets life thrive in this world becuase it is directly connected to yggdrasil. Without the Baobab trees this universe would be completely empty. They are like conduits for Yggdrasil's sap and nutrients which run through the entire Omniverse. I should also specify that it is only the Adansonia grandidieri that has this function other Baobab species do not. However it is also the easiest entry point to our world for dark forces. Finding our planet through unpredictable trees across countless worlds and transporting armies is extremely difficult only residual villainy can reach our world this way but through the Baobab they can enter much easier since it is connected to Yggdrasil directly. This is why the Deity that is the perfection of nature separated Madagascar the only place the Adansonia grandidieri can be found from the mainland. This actually checks out with real history because the giant Baobab predates the separation of Pangea.
The branches of Yggdrasil have been colonised by a cult like civilisation who worship abhorrence itsel,f not darkness. The physical amalgamation of the vile things that fill our world. Widdhogr (Niddhog) is a dragon like serpent who gnaws at the end of the roots of Yggdrasil. He is malicious, spiteful and gluttonous but eating the roots gives him joy. His destruction serves a purpose. But the greed of man in all most worlds not just ours form different pollutants Widdhogr cannot properly consume. This has been going on for trillion's of years in other worlds, they have been destroying and polluting the environment far longer then we have. Widdhogr was forced to consume this shit and it twisted him into something worse then he already was. He consumed more ravenously hoping that there would be some fine wood instead of the pollutants and chemicals and plastics he was left with. The thought of being able to consume something but the waste and pollutants is what kept him going. The parasites mustates him, burnt his scales filled his insides. This changed his psychology from a malicious consumer to a hedonist who believed his pleasure and satisfaction was the most important thing in the omniverse. Humans are terrible polluters especially when there are boundless worlds full of them letting their waste seep to the bottom but eventually Widdhogr consumed at a faster rate then waste was being produced barbecue he was mutated into an ungodly abomination. As he left the underbelly of the world, he was unable to eat a tree root he so desperatley craved for his mere presense destroyed the immediate ecosystem to a desolate wastleand of rot and ruin. He was enraged, the world made hm this monster and no he was robbed of his only joy and comfort, he needed revenge. He had suffered for eons at the foot of all existence a pathetic bottom feeder with no purpose endlessly consuming hoping their might be more no matter how much it twisted his body, all existence serves its thanks to him doing his job in pure malice and spite. But now he has to not eat constantly his mind gre and expanded and he became far more intellegent that something so hateful ever should. He is infinitely vengeful to humanity for what they have done to him his job before was simply to consume the waste of the tree which was nutritious to him and would have time time to do other things then eat but he still did it out of the enjoyment of destruction he had. The pollutants from humanity marred him for countless eons, our world only recently unknowingly followed what other worlds have been doing for trillions of years. His philosophy remains unchanged, he is a hedonist the prospect of pleasure and enjoyment is what keeps him going but now he is more vengeful then ever and wants to transform the omniverse into a torturous place for all humanity so he may get his pleasure from their torment as well as revenge of the hell they made his every ounce of life.
Yggdrasil and the deity that is nature itself had a part to play in Widdhogr's suffering it moved all the pollution in its self and the worlds to Widdhogr through its root and mycorrhizal network to save itself. Widdhogr is currently unaware of this. The climate crisis on our planet was here for ages roughly 500 years but no one noticed it until 1950 which is when Widdhogr broke free meaning there was no where to deposit the pollutants and rubbish. Yggdrasil knew taking the pollutants and storing them at the bottom or anywhere in itself would damage itself meaning no world would have any life in it and accepted the fact that if this is way humans choose to live then so be it, if they change their ways in one world that world can be saved.
Now that Widdhogr is out and about he is causing carnage all over the omniverse. Such high concentrations of pollutants interacted with his unique physiology to give him numerous powers such as creating an ecosytem or torment such as giving birth to roots that penetrate every orifice of a person causing agony and sustaining them to give him his pain and suffering widdhogr so loves. They made him eat shit and he's going to feed it back to them 3 times. He wants to corrupt all the worlds and Yggdrasil itself twisting the nature into something foul. He resents nature too for its "balanced" existence was as a result of his suffering. He places human beings most responsible and wants to twist humans destructive nature in his favor to destroy the deity that is nature which wronged him.
There is still so much more I want to share but I don't want this to be an unreadable dump like Widdhogr was force fed. Thank you so much if you read this far and I would love to hear some feedback. I think its pretty good if I say so myself but I am obviously biased and would love to hear some outside opinions. Wishing you an incredible week!

Advice what songs remind you of my character?
I'm making a characater playlist and so far I'm working out his relationship with his friends. idk how to make those collage things either pls help lol
This is what i have so far (I used ai to simplify it):
Angelic Corruption
One of the major themes in the story is that power slowly turns people into the very things they fear.
The more powers someone uses, the more "angelic" they become. Psychologically, this makes them self-important, detached from humanity, and increasingly disgusted by that humanity. Physically, they begin developing inhuman traits and gain an ethereal aura around them.
The transformation can never fully finish. There will always be a human part of them left behind, and over time they begin to hate that part of themselves.
This creates tension within the group (of power users) because they genuinely want to help the people(powerless and with), but their powers slowly push them toward viewing others as objects that serve their wants rather than equals.
Ăala is especially disturbed by this. She watches her friends become less human every day and fears that RiagĂĄn is doing the same thing to KĆhei.
The Industrial Nation
The Metal Nation believes Mother Nature and traditional worship have failed humanity. Rather than relying on nature, they want to control the flow of power themselves through technology.
However, they aren't heroes. They're extremists.
They persecute and execute people with strong powers in an attempt to "purify" society, despite using powerful individuals themselves when it's convenient.
KĆhei embodies this hypocrisy perfectly. He's everything the movement claims to hate- powerful, visibly divine, and connected to the old system- yet he's protected because of his status.
I also like the biblical parallel of the Tower of Babel. The Metal and Fire Nations essentially decide:
"We don't need the heavens. We'll build our own."
KĆhei and RiagĂĄn's Relationship
I chose RiagĂĄn as KĆhei's lover because it creates a conflict for Ăala (KĆhei's friend and RiagĂĄn's sister). KĆhei is her friend, but RiagĂĄn is still her brother, and despite everything he does, she can't stop loving him, because he is her family. I like the idea of Ăala delaying the group's journey because she doesn't want to make that choice, which gives her a more active role in the plot.
I also don't want KĆhei and RiagĂĄn's relationship to be easy to label. I want readers to constantly question whether they actually love each other or whether they're using each other. KĆhei starts out wondering if he's just a tool for the industrial revolution, but over time he genuinely falls for RiagĂĄn. RiagĂĄn's feelings are real too, but they're mixed with obsession, insecurity, and idealisation.
A big part of their dynamic is that RiagĂĄn sees KĆhei as something perfect. Because he spent his life feeling inferior to Ăala, he becomes fascinated with KĆhei's angelic appearance and divine powers. At first he treats KĆhei almost reverently, but eventually that admiration turns possessive. Instead of loving KĆhei as a person, he begins loving the idea of KĆhei.
KĆhei meanwhile becomes increasingly dependent on RiagĂĄn's approval. He starts convincing himself that giving up parts of his autonomy is an act of love and loyalty. His verbal tic, "gladly", eventually becomes a sign that he's stopped making decisions for himself.
The relationship is meant to parallel religious idolatry. RiagĂĄn wants KĆhei to be his angel rather than his husband. KĆhei is slowly being reshaped into an ideal that RiagĂĄn created, much like an idol being forged from metal.
KĆhei's Core Theme
The biggest theme surrounding KĆhei is humanity versus idealisation.
Everyone sees him as something other than a person:
- RiagĂĄn sees an angel.
- The government sees a tool.
- Society sees a noble.
- The people see a symbol.
The question I keep coming back to is:
"Does a rotting dead corpse not feel more than a perfectly preserved divinity?"
Songs I associate with him":
"It's Only Sex" â Car Seat Headrest
"Nude" â Radiohead
"A Mask of My Own Face" â Lemon Demon
TL;DR
Is becoming divine worth it if it means losing your humanity?

Question I found one of my old writings from middle school back when I wrote a noire story and I really want to Improve it. Let me know what you think so far
THE GREENE NIGHT MURDER:Written by Gauge mogle
It was a normal night for private Detective Axel Reed. He was just about to put sugar in his coffee until He hear a knock at his office door. A woman Who went by the name Mrs Green in saying her husband was murdered was a typical case for
Detective Axel to deal with so he made an agreement with Mrs Green so he put his coat on and just in case picked his Weapon up and headed to the crime scene. Mr Green's last seen Location was at the carpenter from what Mrs Green had said. He walked in with the sound of the bell ringing indicating a customer walked in âHello detective what may i help you with?'' The owner said cheerfully âIâm here on behalf of Mr Green." He was murdered'' Axel said. Axel asked What Mr Green wanted at the carpenter so he could have evidence It was a traditional fur rug but it had a little bit of blood on it And then Detective axel noticed a snake cage in the store.âWhy would a carpenter have a snake and a rug with Little bits of blood on it?â Axel asked himself. It was time to get to the bottom of this case âMr,Lorenzo, why do you have the rug of mr green and why does it have blood?â âOK! I admit I killed Mr green!â Why? Axel questioned âBecause he scammed me once before so I stabbed him in his stomach and kidney and wrapped him in the rug.â WHAT?!â Axel shouted confusedly âYou are under arrest For the murder of Mr Larry Green Mr lorenzo." But there something else i must tell you i was put up to the job of killing mr green by a gang of mysterious men so you donât have the whole case since they are big crimanals so yourâe in a bit of a jam there detective! As axel put handcuffs on mr lorenzo he walked to his P.I office he noticed a letter from the government back from the war The draft letter but also another letter a more threatening one from a mysterious owner Mrs greene was waiting and they shared a look.
