NAS Apps Need to include a full folder into Synology Drive (cloudstation) but keep the folder in its original location

Windows 11.

My dad writes a lot on his computer, but he's unable to handle the SynologyDrive for keeping his documents in. He keeps them in the default My Documents and I've tried to explain how Synology Drive is just another folder on his PC that has better backup because it is connected to both Google Drive and One Drive too.

Is there a way to send the contents of My Documents to the SynologyDrive and keep the folder in its original location while I guess creating a duplicate folder in SynologyDrive?

My only solution has been to use Active Backup for his entire C Drive once a night.

You can set up a sync process to Synology Drive from any folder on the computer, except if OneDrive is running in the "My Documents" folder, Synology Drive can't use it. You can't have two sync products usng the same folder.

Ah ok thank you. I'll have to keep it on OneDrive because if anything messes up on my end I'll never hear the end of it

Your dad refuses to follow the backup process but it's your fault if something goes wrong? God damn I hope you have a therapist

He's 74 and disabled physically and mentally and he has problems with the technology and gives up. He's fine.

I think you can backup or sync his OneDrive to the synology with cloudsync ( on the diskstation itself). Or you can backup the Documents folder from the Synology Drive client.

Just install Cloud Sync on the synology to upload the changes to onedrive

Unless your dad needs remote connection, or others are using his files, SD offers no advantage over that working from files natively stored on a PC (or the NAS itself).

If he doesn't think his writing is good enough to want to keep, that's his choice.

That's not it. He does but he's 74 and disabled and he has problems with the technology and gives up

I never use the default Synology Folder for syncing between the NAS and the PC. I don’t know why they thought this was a good default setup as it just adds confusion and conflicts with many apps which save to the Documents folder.

Just change the PC client to sync the My Documents folder or whatever folder you want. You can also set separate sync takes for as many different folders as you want.

使用rclone和定时任务进行备份
