Discussion Metal or non-metal stp

Do you prefer the metal stuff from stp (core, parts of purple, most of no.4) or the non Metal stuff (tiny music, the psychadelic stuff on purple, most of SLDD)

In my opinion I don't really count stp as metal. Gunge/alt rock yeah but not netal

Thats why STP was one of the best bands to exist. They changed their style so much, really more so than any other of their peers. Like would you ever expect the band who sang Sex Type Thing to also sing A Song For Sleeping?

It's the mix. Got to have a No Way Out to balance out Atlanta.

decades later and we're still nitpicking genre labels. it really doesn't matter.

I don't care, I'm into it for the hooks.

Best radio rock band of the 90s.

I picked metal but honestly it's 50/50 for me, Core and Tiny Music are both tied for my favourite albums

I wouldn't even consider STP's heavier songs metal, like Down, Silvergun Superman, and Piece of Pie. If anything, I'd consider it hard rock. Between heavy and softer STP, I like a good mix of both
