Melee Hi, this is Fly Amanita. AMA!

Evening,

I'm an Ice Climbers main in Melee who has been in the smash scene since 2007. I recently placed top 8 in EVO and have some other decent recent tourney performances as well. I could say more, but I figure it's better to let you ask about what you want to know instead of typing a fragmented mini-biography, so ask away!

edit: I still have a lot to respond to, but I'm exhausted, so I'll get on that in the morning.
edit: awake again and responding to more

Why did you switch colors from the default climbers to Green/Light Yellow climbers? Most major Ice Climber mains (Wobbles, Chu, You) besides Nintendude used the default so I assume you switched just for recognition.

Also, how bad is the Ganondorf matchup for the Ice Climbers, especially in comparison to Peach? I got destroyed at a local tournament recently by an Ice Climber main even when I played Ganondorf, who was my first main and remains a strong secondary, but I've started experimenting with Peach and I really enjoy playing as her. Should I just use each character based on different stages, like Ganondorf for Yoshi's and Peach for Dreamland, or should I switch to only Peach or Ganondorf?

Lastly, thanks for having this AMA. I've been a fan ever since I saw your incredible play at KoC3, and I knew that you'd do extremely well at EVO. You definitely are one of the "demigods" or whatever buzzword there is now for the tier of players underneath the Top 5. Thanks!

I teamed with Eddy at Pat's House 2 in a strange, last minute situation. I don't care about team colors and he always wanted to be green, so I went with that. After doing doubles matches for a while, I just got accustomed to the color and felt like using it in singles as well.

I don't currently think Ganon is that bad for ICs. I think Peach is significantly harder. I'd probably recommend sticking with one or the other (and either one is ultimately fine for ICs) since it's easier to learn one match-up well than it is to learn two.
