[Melee] Hi, I'm Dr.Peepee, ask me anything!

Hey guys, I was asked by Prog to make this post, and it sounded pretty fun so I decided to do it. I love talking to people and about smash so this is right up my alley haha. Like the title says, ask me anything!

Hey PP, I've been watching you play for a lot now, I also started playing falco when Melee came out, and I still play him. I still cant wavedash tho, I Haven't focused on training it, but when I try, I find it really hard to do it. So my question is, any tips to train wavedashing? Also, do you hold your controller the normal way? Or you claw it?

Thanks for all the great moments you given us and the ones you will give!

(Also, link to apex stream? Thanks!)

The thing with WDing is that most people think of it in like 3 parts. The jump, the air dodge, and the slide. Traditional thought would put this in 3 different hand actions. It not. Its hitting 3 buttons near simultaneously. The first part is done when the character is crouching prior to leaving the ground in a jump. This is very visible in training at quarter speed. Just jump a few times, youll see it. The game considers the character to be airborne at this point allowing you to air dodge. then you have to air dodge at a near flat angle while your character is in this crouch. It sounds very complicated but its not. Its just precise. For me I hit y/x/up as if I'm about to SH then air dodge before I see Falco leave the ground. Mess around on fd for practice. Each character is different. The whole thing is essentially one motion regardless though.
