The worst is when it drizzles a little during sunny days, and super amplifies the humidity.

Oh yes this. That moment when the sun comes out blaringly hot right after a short drizzle.

Can practically see the steam rising off the pavement

My one KDK fan just trucking along doing it's best for 27 years.

I need to give it a pet and a silent nod of affirmation for helping me survive Singapore's weather all this time!

KDK brand best brand.

been feeling extra thankful for my trusty KDK these days πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

I like KDK, they actually sells spare parts of their fan.

u/solragnar North side JB Apr 27 '26

Straight up! I've bought the plastic band after realising that I could. Before that I've used like five clothes pegs to hold the front grill to the back πŸ˜‚.

A little squirt of singer oil from time to time and it just. Keeps. Going.

Most durable appliance in my house.

Where does one buy the spare parts and who to contact

1

u/Gold-Mikeboy 28d ago

You can usually find spare parts at local hardware stores or online retailers

for specific contacts, try reaching out to service centers or manufacturers directly.

10

u/Background_Tax_1985 Apr 27 '26

They're so long lasting can will the kdk fan to descendants one

8

u/SL0WRID3R Apr 27 '26

KDK now may not be the same as KDK in the past.....
But in the past, KDK is bombproof, you are taking care of it for the next generation.

1

u/Dumbfuq123 Apr 30 '26

May not be better than the past but still better than other brands.

3

u/Intern-Kun Apr 27 '26

20+ years ago likely AC motor. Time to use climate voucher upgrade brushless DC motor versions, operating costs almost cut by half.

Upvoting for KDK, the best fan

Her aircon strength kinda depends on luck. Cannot imagine we kena one train that has a failing aircon for a long trip :')

13

u/youg βœ” Apr 27 '26

I'm starting to bring Jisulife-chan with me everywhere I go

4

u/Mystogan94 Apr 27 '26

I would just step out next station and wait for next one πŸ˜…

2

u/bluewarri0r Apr 27 '26

Ya omg and the new trains nowadays dont have aircon vent in the middle of the carriage?? Wtf

u/liljestig Apr 27 '26

I find it a bit amusing when HDB and town council suggest how to save energy, they never mention changing to double-pane windows can save 30% of electricity bill.

12

u/Rayl24 East Side Best Side Apr 27 '26

Damn expensive when I looked into it for sound proofing

1

u/grown-ass-man Apr 27 '26

How expensive?

1

u/botakchek Ku Ku Bert Jr. 🐦 Apr 28 '26

I just replaced all the windows in my 5rm HDB for close to 5k (this is with some upgrades), I can't imagine for double pane

If they said that people will complain that it isn't a standard fixture

u/TofuDonburi Apr 27 '26

But government tell us not to turn on aircon-kun and fan-chan.

62

u/AgainstTheEnemy Apr 27 '26

Yes, in no way we should arouse them in any kind

17

u/Kosmicheskaya Apr 27 '26

Since when did they say don’t use fans?

34

u/ji3mi Own self check own self βœ… Apr 27 '26

2

u/finismorsest Apr 27 '26

plap plap plap, perhaps?

6

u/max_wen Apr 27 '26

It's your ac. Turn it on if you want.

19

u/Capable-Crab-7449 Apr 27 '26

Ask them turn off parliament air con first. Lead by example

4

u/EpicYH22 Apr 27 '26

Who ask them to be highly sensitive to the smell of sweat

14

u/Gadjiltron Apr 27 '26

It fluctuates between blistering heat and sudden downpours and it's awful when trying to recover from a cold

8

u/nextlevelunlocked Apr 27 '26

The rate this country is replacing trees with buildings is not helping either...

9

u/Mysterious-Half-4474 Apr 27 '26

The humidity is no joke πŸ˜… This is exactly why wooden kitchen cabinets in SG are a nightmare β€” they absorb moisture and start warping after a few years. Aluminium doesn't have this problem at all. Slowly seeing more HDB homeowners switch for this reason.

5

u/8styx8 Lao Jiao Apr 27 '26

Those r particle board la.

2

u/Mysterious-Half-4474 Apr 27 '26

SG humidity really destroys more stuff at home than people realize. Cabinets near wet areas, wardrobe backing, even laminate edges can start showing it after a few years.

2

u/Extension-Nose-8311 Apr 27 '26

My formal shoes didn't wear for 1-2 years also completely broke down due to the heat

1

u/Ill_Problem2875 Apr 27 '26

can consider getting a cheap dehumidifier from taobao. helps a fair bit in reducing the humidity in the house.

7

u/Z4ri Apr 27 '26

Coming out of an aircon room into the open air feels like I’m an ice cream taken out of the freezer for 30 seconds.

7

u/clementtoh2 Apr 27 '26

30 feels like 35??? Where im at it 38 feels like 45. AND IM IN SG TOO

6

u/QuestioingEverything I POFMA and SgSecure you ah! Apr 27 '26

As someone without an air con at home, I'm seriously deciding to purchase a dehumidifier for my bedroom- but idk what to get

12

u/Rayl24 East Side Best Side Apr 27 '26

You are gonna have to find one powerful enough to dehumidify the entire country unless you keep your windows and door closed with no a/c

5

u/LeekypooX Apr 27 '26

The fan just blowing warm air back at me

4

u/Tinmaddog1990 Apr 27 '26

Then blow the warm air back at the fan. Assert dominance

4

u/gyiren Apr 27 '26

A solution that works for me is to pull down the blinds and not let the sunlight in, then open up during the night.

I've got black out blinds so it's a little satisfying to feel them radiating heat at the end of the day. Like I've "beaten" the sun, idk, it's juvenile but I like it

6

u/cw88888 Apr 27 '26

The kicker is El Nino hasn't really started yet. And peak El Nino is slated at the later half of the year. At least for the past year we had heavy rain every once a while as a respite. There will be less rain when El Nino kicks in. Go away El Nino, you're not welcome.

dude fr, i legit showered 4 times a day because of this, this is hellllll

3

u/KeythKatz East side best side Apr 27 '26

30C? Must be using Google Weather. It's been useless for the past year, every day it tells me it will be 27-29 degrees when it's already 31 on NEA and Windy.

2

u/sdarkpaladin Job: Security guard for my house Apr 27 '26

Blackout curtains.

Most of the heat comes from the sun. You block it you don't need to turn the air-con until very high.

2

u/surfaceintegral Apr 27 '26

The predicted super El Nino this year hasn't even started yet. Get ready for actual hell starting from next month.

4

u/NIDORAX Apr 27 '26

Darn hot weather

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh!!!!

1

u/ImperiaRegalia Apr 27 '26

Only when I'm directly under the aircon in a mostly empty mrt carriage is it barely enough

1

u/ShinJiwon Apr 27 '26

The cooling duvet and pillow from Ikea were a worthwhile investment for me. Too hot really cannot sleep.

1

u/HoneycombersOfficial Apr 27 '26

Gosh I thought I was the only one. Walked less than 5 minutes and my back's already damp with sweat.

1

u/clarencechen181196 Apr 28 '26

It’s gonna get hotter it’s only April now gg πŸ™ƒ

I bought personal neck cooler and it's alright, it'sΒ  the only thing makes summer bearable for me. I use Ranvoo Aice Lite , it uses Peltier effect to achieve a feeling of ice pack on my neck. Its honestly amazing.
