Turismo 🧳 How hard is it to get to Agrigento from Palermo?
Hi all i will be in Palermo very soon and I'm quite keen in visiting Agrigento. How much time would I need to fully enjoy Agrigento? Is it easy to get public transport or organise a tour from Palermo?
Thank you
Ciao a tutti.

Do you mean a day trip ? By rail or coach but you need to catch a local bus at the bus station or outside the train station to reach the Valley. I will choose a tour. I visited on my own but stayed there and my visit was not focused only on the Valley. For a day trip, a tour is more realistic even the DIY remains an option.

It’s really easy to get to Valley di Templo by train/walking if you are in decent physical condition.Â
Did it in feb, no issues at all, easily back in Palermo before 5pmÂ

I visited Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples in March on a day trip from Palermo and was really impressed by the temple ruins and the town. So I can definitely recommend it. I travelled by train, which took about two hours each way – which was fine for me (though I’d set off early) – and you can take the bus or walk from the station to the ruins and back again.
But here’s something you need to bear in mind: this summer, the Palermo–Agrigento railway line is partially closed, so you’ll have to take a bus for part of the journey, which extends the one-way journey to Agrigento to over three hours. If you get up early and come back late, it might still be worth it for you. Perhaps you should consider a tour or renting a car instead; the latter would also allow you to add the Scala dei Turchi to your day trip.

I imagine you want to see the Valle dei Templi and not the town itself ?
It would be better to get a tour from Palermo.

I've been from Palermo to Agrigento with the train last january! Was very easy to do 😄 I was there for 4 nights which was way too long I thought. Outside of the small city centre and the Valle dei Templi (accessible by bus from the train station) I found there wasn't much to do around (note: I didn't have a car; so if you have a car this might be different). I loved the temples (and the garden) very much tho!
