Affordable and decent quality meats/ butcher shop?

Hey everyone, excited to do some more grilling this summer. However, cost of groceries sure making my wallet hurt recently. Any recs on affordable places to buy some meats for grilling? I don’t need anything fancy super high grade and I’m not super particular. Just hoping to put some steaks and other meats on the grill the summers without even more going broke.

Costco business center. Buy in bulk, portion to your liking, and freeze.

Granted, I haven't looked around a ton, but every time I went to a local butcher/grocer the rib eye (fav cut) is easily 50% more expensive than Costco. That said; I pretty much stopped buying once it got above $17/lb. Shit's crazy.

And their other half in Bay Park, Siesel's Meats.

They’re both great. But “affordable” really isn’t a word I’d use with either one.

True but I like their ground beef, especially the thicker grind for chilli.

I usually pickup flank or skirt steak from Costco and break down into smaller portions for the freezer until cooking. I usually use a grill pan to make a steak dinner or carne asada tacos.

Yea costco bulk and freezing is the beat option here, imo.

Agreed. I feel like its probly a SoCal thing. But ive got family in Montana and Texas. And thats the one thing they got on us. The best meat markets, they are busy to so fresh turnover, so jealous.

Not sure if you are specifically looking for a butcher shop if top quality isn’t your driving factor but for the money Costco is solid especially for pork ribs and pork shoulder and decent for steaks. I also see tri-tip on sale often at Vons.

Visit a mexican market for things like carne and pollo asada

Also, regardless of where you buy you can get a roast and cut it into steaks.

Went to a halal butcher for the first time two weekends ago, and I'm never going back to the grocery store meat counter.

I went to San Diego Halal Meats on Main & Mollison, got five t-bone steaks, a whole chicken, and 8 boneless chicken thighs for a grand total of $66. And it's very high quality meat.

Do not sleep on the halal butchers
