Middle age couple looking for someone at my house with a map location

A middle age couple rang on our doorbell camera on last week in the evening and said that they were looking for their son’s friend and gave me his first name. I told them that I didn’t know anybody by that name and I pointed out a couple of the neighbors houses that they might check. When I asked them what address they had, to offer them help, the woman showed me her phone and it was just a pin on a map at my house. I asked them a couple questions to try to help and they sounded kind of vague in their answers. They didn’t appear too concerned about finding the son’s friend. when they left they drove straight out of the neighborhood and didn’t appear to continue looking for their son’s friend in the area. They looked Hispanic and were driving a newer truck Ford or Ram, full size.

Anyone else have any similar knockers?

My advice is just never answer your door.

Yup. These people on here helping them out are nuts.

I'll answer my door and step outside for my neighbors. But anyone else I tell them not interested and to leave

Just last week we had a door knocker just randomly show up and asked to use our bathroom. She seemed harmless and we were all home. About an hour later I get a knock from a young guy asking g me if I had ATT. I said yes and he looked at his tablet and said “That’s odd, I don’t see your WiFi.” He then gave me some random instruction about my Bluetooth ssid that didn’t make any sense. He thanked me for my time and then disappeared. Usually, I see these people go door to door down our street. These two people on the same day didn’t do that….was weird.

Weird! Did she use your restroom? Did you check for devices like microphones or anything else?

did you happen to have any packages at your door?

One time I had someone at my door. The door had a metal screen to it so I could see outside but they could not see me. I noticed this person pacing outside my door and at the same time saw that someone was backing into my driveway. Very odd. When I answered the door without opening the screen the woman asked for someone who obviously didn't live there. When I told her she had the wrong house she got in the car and left. When they left I opened the door to see a bunch of package on the porch. I can only guess the car was backing into the driveway to load up. Unfortunately for them I was home.

Scoping out your house to see who you are, and checking when you’re home vs not home?

Really? The idea of killing someone sounds fun to you? It's not . And after acting like Billy bad ass around your friends for days, weeks after the killing , the nightmares start. You start questioning yourself. You start loosing sleep, weight. You stop socializing. It takes a toll on you.

It's like karma in a way. You killed another human being that wanted to steal your hard earned objects. Soulless, things that bring you joy. Just like the joy the perp you killed used to bring his mother. But he died quick, suffering over either instantly or over the next few hours.

But your suffering has only started. And will erode away at your being for the rest of your life. You will be a shell of who you were supposed to be.

Atkeast he died quickly

Dang sounds like you’re speaking from experience 💔 if it was self defense don’t forget you could be the one no longer on this earth! I’m sorry you’re dealing with that if you are.

Still, when you see the pain in the family, it can haunt you. If anybody says they would easily kill someone for coming on there property or stealing something from them then I hope the person saying that is a heartless asshole to start with. It's just property people

You actually have a point 👀

I know. And it gets harder every year

Try not to be so hard on yourself. You can turn the mistake/lesson into an opportunity/rebuild. And learn to associate that weight with a positive way of dealing with it. Do something in its honor. But I hear you brother. It’s heavy stuff. Clearly you have learned a lesson.

No one randomly comes to anyone's door anymore. If you aren't expecting anyone, don't open the door, and if you do, don't engage in any lengthy convos. Seriously. With cell phones and the maps on them, no one is lost or out of touch to the point they need to go to a private home for help.

I feel like if people go too far with this advice you wind up with that situation where the woman was stabbed to death in the street and multiple neighbors heard but no one did anything or called anyone or helped her, because they all assumed if it was serious someone else would deal with it.

If you are talking about the murder of Kitty Genovese in Queens, NY, which is often given as an example in sociology classes of the "Bystander effect," many eyewitnesses did in fact call the police.

If a stranger comes to the door in trouble, offer to call the police. They're first responders and trained to help. Someone in true need will welcome assistance.

One should never answer the door if they don't know who's on the other end, personally or aren't expecting a delivery thay they can see via a camera. You were probably being chased. I hope you have more than just a doorbell camera.

How so??

Got a pin, asking vague questions. Either you were the reason they were there or they were probing for some other unknown reasons. Leaving straight away tells me the reason they gave for being there was bullshit
