There is. Many have reported Reta makes you more disciplined and locked in. The discipline when it comes to not overeating seems to affect other areas of life

Yeah it’s make massive waves for addiction treatment. Most people hopping on a glp1 no longer want to drink or can’t. Which is amazing because even AA, people going out of their way to get treatment, has like an 85% plus failure rate.

85% failure rate if you count anybody who ever has a slip having "failed" in recovery. Or the other studies where they count people who have been to two meetings as having "tried AA." These numbers get thrown around a lot and are wildly misleading and harmful because AA works extremely well for people who actually try to do it. There are also studies that show this but for whatever reason people love to pile on the spiritual gobbledegook non evidence based blah blah blah hate train. I work in the treatment industry and it's clear AA has way higher success rates among people who commit to it then most "Evidence based" institutions. Difficult and complicated cases require both and obviously there are people who get nothing from AA and do recover with other support. Nothing is black and white but this high failure rate of AA (And other treatment methods: most of the times when people initially fail To recover it's because they do almost everything AMA)

Even that aside AA is one of the least affective methods available. Rehab is probably second place. But the medications available now? Extremely successful. Right away. No matter what mindset you start at or how low you are. You don’t have to want to do it bad enough or any other crap. These meds will likely make AA obsolete except for the people who want emotional support and at that point it’s corny group therapy. Which really it always was. It’s a damn shame it’s still recommended to alcoholics when no one even tells them about the medications. I swear every week on Reddit in the alcoholism stop drinking groups you still have people learning for the first time there is medication. And it’s so fucking sad. Even people who succeed with AA often relapse several times first. Which can shave years of their life depending on how long each time lasts. That’s really hard to even do on the meds available now. “Actually try” god that whole attitude would keep my ass so far from these groups. Gross af. The relapse rate is because it’s not very effective. That’s it. Oh and the numbers are for long term sobriety, not “slip ups”

You’re acting like Glp1’s were kept secret by BIG THERAPY for the last 150 years lmao. Life existed before they and before Reddit even

I’m not. I’m aware. I didn’t just mean glp1’s either. There are daily pills that have been around a while to treat addiction. They are often never brought up when people seek treatment.
