Thank you! Came here to update that it is indeed very accurate.

It’ll be fairly strenuous, and not for a beginner to either hiking or backpacking, but I wouldn’t also classify it as something where you’ll need to be an S Teir (or even A Teir) athlete to manage. We’re looking at some pretty long days, but the final plan hasn’t been decided yet.

Edit: STRONGLY recommend Pharoh lake to beginners

Thinking about going on the Adirondack backpacking but a little worried about the skill level, how intense will it be?

Just wanted to say I saw your article in the Times Union today, and wanted to thank you for opening the barcade.

Also, props for having a site where you list the status of all the cabinets!

Question- the article mentioned something about N64?

Wow that Ben and Jerry's was there when I was there (class of 89) back when they were just getting started. Sad to hear.

You should probably include the rent price and any utilities if you want people to actually message you about this.

As another response said, you're looking for a neuropsych evaluation and the counselors at the school aren't qualified to do that. Do you have private health insurance that might cover it? If not, you may have luck at a teaching institution with students that are learning on the job. It's thousands of dollars if you pay out of pocket.

It's so easy to get to RPI from NYC on Amtrak! I wasn't sure my son could handle the rigor either because he didn't seem to work that hard in HS, but he has really applied himself.

Do you have to be at least 21 to get in?

Of people I personally know, one of the Chinese language professors was laid off after being told she would be teaching through at least the 2026-2027 school year. She was an awesome professor too, good reviews on RMP and not just because it's an easy class but because she's actually good at teaching and was very caring and organized. I know most students aren't going to be taking a language class at RPI (especially since they're trying to get rid of the last remaining one AGAIN) but yeah, I'm sure the layoffs are happening, just not being announced. I only found because she sent all her students a parting-ways email.

I was around 2 years ago and even walked into the Union admin office, no ID required. I might have followed someone in though, don't remember. It was also during the day. It does help that I worked a couple of Student Union jobs and was heavily involved in clubs + student government, so the higher-ups who've been there awhile know me so I'm not super worried.

My son also received an invitation and applied, have not received a response yet. Is this invitation only or is it open to the public? I see the link to apply is not private?

i have gone through the official 2+2 docs the maximum scholarship i can get is 30kusd which i believe is more than generous , but i dont think it would be wise to take up that financial risk , considering the current job market US's current political state thank you very much for replying .

The best advice might be to contact Financial Aid and set up an appointment with them so they can walk you through our processes and talk about financing your education.

Rpi is good and a safe bet. But it now largely lives off old legacy. It lost its edge years ago and while still a respected engineering program, it no longer stands out. In facts, its peers are now places like WPI, no longer CMU etc. that says it all.

prof niemec frequents this subreddit he 100% saw it

niemec also teaches modelling and control of dynamic systems, a grad req for all of mane. unavoidable for most students.

there is a scarily high chance a mane prof will know one of his students is controlling the dihhnamics.

pretty hard, unless you cite a disability. i'm not 100% sure how rigorous they are with 'proving' you need accommodations, but i had a friend who was able to cite homesickness and (not medically diagnosed) anxiety issues.

if you're diagnosed neurodivergent (adhd/autism/etc) you should have a pretty strong case on why a roommate would be a struggle for you

iirc they do charge more for singles, and you lose on the classic 'college experience' (if thats something you're into?), and even if you dont get a single ur super likely to get a double (most rooms are doubles... depending on the dorm hall)

Definitely a great time! I went to camp fowler my freshman year and it was very fun. I've heard white water rafting is very fun as well!

NRB trips are great times to meet new people, I know loads of people who made lasting friendships from their trips. Plenty of people do them!

I also graduated about 5 years ago and I recommend for any alumni visiting campus to reach out to the Red and White organization (student section of the alumni association) and get a tour of campus. They do this specifically for alumni to show and talk about any changes that have occurred on campus since your graduation. I used to be a tour guide for it and we would change up what we spoke on based on how long it's been the alumni on tour had been back. You also get a chance to tour campus buildings that you want to vist/request if there are any ones in particular you wanted to go back and see again. I find it's a great way to get a tour without having to do the whole perspective student tour. You also might get the chance of riding in a golf cart while doing it if it's available.
