Ricky Gervais on how we're destroying the planet & how we could help feed millions

The antagonism! It’s like three blokes in a pub, and people are listening!

u/CtrlThirdDegree 18h ago
Nope.
But that doesn’t make him wrong.
21
u/Comfortable-Can-9432 17h ago
No but it makes him a massive hypocrite. He probably has a higher carbon footprint than the entire combined theatre he’s lecturing.
-9
u/CtrlThirdDegree 15h ago
It absolutely does. The fact he is a tit doesn’t mitigate the fact that he is right. All the cry hards will downvote though!

u/Jack070293 2h ago
Who is claiming that he is wrong? Who do you think you’re winning an argument against?

The worst part about all this, is he's right. He's totally right about the destruction of the environment. We are in the shit badly, and I agree with basically everything he says.
But he's still such a smug wanker I can't stand to listen to him. Also, is this what his standup is like now? Poorly researched environmental lectures? He's like a Facebook post come to life

But as a billionaire he’s far, far, far more responsible for it than all of the people at his show.
I don’t blame him for that. If I was a billionaire, I would have a massive carbon footprint myself. But what I wouldn’t do, I wouldn’t go around lecturing people who cause far less of it than I do. Coz that would make me a massive hypocrite.
11
u/aehii 15h ago
Are you suggesting here that Gervais is a billionaire?
0
-5
u/Comfortable-Can-9432 12h ago
Sorry no, not literally a billionaire. I guess he’s worth a couple of hundred million?

I don't like that he suggested to eat less meat. This is green agenda propaganda. The reproduction rate of white families is below 2, so are not responsible for over population.

u/1800SHITFUCKPISS 18h ago
I saw a similar theory written on a wall once, but it was written in shit.

Jesus...I don't know where to start with any of that. What a mong
-20
u/ZodiAddict 18h ago
Probably because you don’t have a counter argument to begin with
10
u/NaturalAlfalfa Unlikely lust object 17h ago
A counter argument? Like how.meat production produces far more CO2 and uses way, way more land than the equivalent amount of vegetable production? And as for " white families" I don't even know what difference the amount of melanin in someone's skin has to do with anything

Funny for a man who spends his days posting on r/conspiracy to not understand how the petrochemical industrial complex spends hundreds of millions on propaganda to basically create FUD around the concept that releasing CO2 into the atmosphere will trap heat in the atmosphere while at the same time trying to suppress research and development into renewable energy and nuclear power
I mean its not like the USA has been fighting a air war against Iran over who controls how to ship the oil from the middle east while launching coups in Venezuela so it can get hold of its oil while at the same time Argentina have been moaning because they want the Falklands for the oil underneath it
You smooth brain

You should consider being a co-host on a radio show. In a few years time there could be a subreddit where people quote the nonsense you've said on air.
Also have you ever had a neighbour that kept an 'orse in the 'ouse?

I work at an animal shelter that Ricky Gervais visited a couple years back to take one of his 'look at me looking sad whilst holding a sick animal' photos for his social media. He didn't speak to anyone other than this tall lady who came with him who I guess was his PA and his photographer who was a little fella in a baseball cap. They basically walked around like they owned the place and the photographer completely ignored anyone that spoke to him. I asked his assistant why the photographer was so rude and she said 'Listen, he's a great at taking photos. He's just doing his job. Leave him be'. Eventually I got so mad at the photographer ignoring everyone that I stomped up to him whilst he was taking a photo and whipped his baseball cap off. Turns out...

Ricky: The trouble with Christmas dinner, I mean, the roast dinner is the king of dinners and the Christmas dinner is the king of roast dinners.
But you can't have one every day.
Steve: No, it's absurd.
Ricky: It's brilliant.
Steve: We have three meats in our house.
Ricky: It's unbelievable. The amount of meats is just amazing. It's just a plate of meat.
Steve: It's just meat, yeah.
Ricky: With one Brussels sprout, one token Brussels sprout and the gravy.

Doing much about the destruction of the planet? Or are you focusing mainly on the trans/woke moral panic?

I remember him once saying he ate 10 or 12 sausages in a sitting and then became convinced he was having a heart attack. Which isn't unreasonable, in that context.

plants account for roughly 450 Gt C, followed by bacteria at approximately 70 Gt C and archaea at about 7 Gt C. This highlights the significant role plants play compared to other forms of life, including fungi, which are the third most abundant life forms on Earth.
As always, there's someone sticking up for Gervais. The stats he presents seem to be true for mammals. However, plants make up 80% of biomass on Earth, even fungi are third most abundant. There's loads of them about but...what do they do?
1
u/RSK-XFM_FAN 9h ago
If poor people would stop over-populating the planet, this wouldn't be much of a problem.

u/carterartist 9h ago
A wise man once said: “You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg."

Think how many people we could feed if Gervais stopped eating, fat cunt.

u/crueladze 3h ago
It’s just mad that this is a clip from what I can only assume is a comedy stand up. What he’s saying isn’t wrong but imagine going out for some laughs and being subjected to this all night
1
u/Rincethis 3h ago
he's right. but he's also an arrogant prick who aims at disenfranchised groups for cheap, low hanging fruit 'laughs'. He also plays that 'dohs are better than himans' card so often it's tiresome. We get it mate. You hate humans because you think they're all like you.

u/CtrlThirdDegree 1h ago
Hardly an argument when I’m agreeable with the points made Jack. Just because I have a differing perspective doesn’t mean I’m picking a fight, chill out.

He writes his standups nowadays with the sole purpose of it being clipped up into witty and biting 60 second clips for his fans to share on social media. He really is a saaad, strange little man.
