Wilms tumour
We have a family friend who's 1 year old has just received the diagnosis of having a wilms tumour, she starts chemo this week and is getting the tumour removed next month, the prognosis seems good and they've caught it early. We live on the other side of the country and although this seems like it's all going well is there anything that I could send up to them to make the next few weeks or months abit more tolerable for them?

Hey, I also have Wilms Tumour. I'm 14 so I'm quite old to be having this type of cancer, but I wanted to share some advice to give to your family as someone who's been through this. Literally just had my operation yesterday. So Wilms Tumour is quite an aggressive cancer, but the good news is that it it's very responsive to chemotherapy. My Wilms was stage 4 as it had spread from my right kidney to my right lung, and even when we caught it late the prognosis was still very good, and the tumour repsended well to the chemo. I've just had the operation so obviously I feel pretty shit after but I've spoken to people with kids with wilms and they say their child was back to their normal self after operation recovery. Hopefully this gives your friends hope

Hi! Wilms survivor here! I would agree with the comments suggesting food, plus just being there for the family!

DoorDash or UberEats or other meal gift cards. Hospital food quality varies by location, but no matter what it gets expensive.
