Gunn HS Graduation Ceremony

Hello, Palo Altans. We're planning to go to the Gunn HS graduation on Thursday and are wondering how early we need to get there to get seats where we can actually see the graduates.

Do we need to be there at 3:45 when they open the gates for seats on the field? And do they really enforce the "no saving seats" rule? Are the bleacher seats good enough and, if so, when do we need to get there for those seats?

We'll have both young and old with us, so are trying to avoid spending a lot of time sitting in the sun waiting for the ceremony to start.

Thank you for any and all intel!

I dont recall seating to be a huge issue, but parking is - that is the main reason to get there early if you are not within walking distance of thd school.

The heat can be brutal - get there early, it's a special day, and there are a lot of tiger parent types who will be there as soon as possible to see their special person get called.

There's not an actual enforcement of no saving seats, at least the ceremonies I've been to there, but there is some common respect rules that seem to be socially enforced in part. e.g. if you have four people sitting, and they're saving two more seats - not a problem. If you have one person saving a row of seven seats - that's not okay

Hat, water, sunscreen.

So often there is a queue at the gates so I would get there around 2:00 of want to have a good shot at getting seats with any sort of view.
