As part of my final-year Psychology research project with The Open University, I’m looking for participants aged 18+ to complete a short anonymous survey investigating the relationship between personality traits, engagement with fictional narratives and wellbeing.

I have applied to my next module yesterday and thought it was all sorted. However, I've logged in today and have an alert at the top stating that I can now complete my enrolment on outstanding modules. I click to do this and get taken to my reserved module (the same one I applied for yesterday). I press to complete enrolment, click proceed and get to the page saying I have completed it. I go back to the main page and get the same alert again. Rinse and repeat.

Anyone else having this issue?

So, I am fascinated by both, yet I know that it's it usual only to take one bachelor degree. Would it be possible to simultaneously communicate with economics and art histroy ?

Another thing would be beginning with art history and, at the last of the 3 years, beginning with economics

I'm studying data science and so far have been doing 50 percent intensity (i e 2 modules per academic year). I'm about to enrol for my first set of stage 2 modules and wonder how much the difficulty ramps up? With Stage two modules only having October start which means that if I want to carry on at 50 percent I'll be doing them simultaneously. Is it a lot to take on? I would be doing the MST 224 and M248.

I was somewhat lucky that I've done maths at A levels, further maths at AS and had maths modules in my first degree, so MST 124 was mostly revision and adjusting to OU format of doing things. Scared I'm feeling a false sense of security.

I just finished A111 this year and I was planning on doing A112 as well but I changed my mind however I got the A112 textbooks sent to me anyway, and they said to keep them even though I’m starting it in October.

My question is:
Can I use these books to start studying for next year? Will the topics in this book be what is definitely studied next year(October 26)? (I know TMA questions will probably be different)
Not sure if they re-do the textbook topics and don’t want to waste time studying something that may not appear in the module.

Ive seen quite a few people on this sub saying they only needed like 2-3 hours per week to complete their part time degree. I plan to study computer science & artificial intelligence when im 18 in January and 18-20 hours a week sounds very hard to do. Id honestly have no free time. Im also studying Japanese as well so I need time for that.

I’m trying to apply for my masters modules as I’m at the end of my degree and the system is BROKEN. It won’t physically let me apply because it says I’m on a qualification already. I made a support query, who told me I’d need to call in. So I did and they manually reserved me onto them and said it would work fine from then on. It hasn’t, I can’t progress with enrolment at all and get the same error.

I made another query saying it’s not fixed and they took over a week to respond and by the response clearly had not read my query at all because they told me to do exactly what I’d said I couldn’t. I responded to that with no response and am now trying to call them up again but the wait times are HORRENDOUS and it just tells me to try using the website because their advisors are all busy.

I just want to sort out my student finance and am getting sent around in circles.

As the headline says. I had an extension for TMA04 till the 13th of may I sent it in before that. I emailed my tutor last week about results when I'd get them they emailed back same day saying tomorrow. I waited and waited. I emailed again just to make sure there wasn't any issues uploading anything (I get tech is not everyone's friends sometimes) they emailed back same day that I'd get them tomorrow (meaning yesterday). This is not the 1st time my tutor has held up results it's been the same for every TMA and I'm fed up checking to see if anything is there and nothing. Our module EMA is today I sent it in yesterday. If we students have a timeline to get things in and the turn around is 14/15 working days to get it back to us why can't they keep to that. I hate when people leave things till last minutes

Was just looking for some advice on student finance with open uni. Basically, I'm in a bit of a complicated situation. I attended uni before (not open uni) and have used up my 3/4 free years of loans. I am currently repaying it through a third party (Advantis), as they had overcharged me for the last year I was in uni. I had changed uni twice.

Since then, I have developed epilepsy and believe I am eligible for a medical loan of some sort from sfe. I was wondering if I can still claim that being in debt already and currently repaying a loan?

Any other advice about the whole situation would be appreciated - I'm all ears for any thoughts.

Why does it take so long for OU to even register a new student?

Hey 👋 im currently about to do my last moduel of my degree and we have a WhatsApp group that has recently went sour. We all normal get a long great and it been really good for help and talking about our subject. However there is quite a lot of us that are organised and have spent time understaning things like referencing and how to cite, underlying standing the different approaches . The issue we have is there is someone who is really great at study they are in their 50s and people have been private messaging them with a lot of questions about referencing and approaches and how to find outside sources and if he knew where this information is on the module or books. So he wrote in the chat that at level three they should know this and it is the same people asking them how to write the reference and how to cite so they can copy it and leaving their assignment until the last min not having done anything like taking notes or reading the chapter , while he doesnt mind helping people it is the same group that are sending him over 100 messages while he is finishing up his assignment. We also have it in the group if he doesnt answer them. We always direct them to cite them right. Sinse they put this in the chat they are sent it in to the uni as bulling and they has had any email to say it they are investigating it. My questions is can we download the chat and send it to the uni as those off who have taken the time to work on our work feel this is wrong and he shouldn't be punished when no bullying has occured.

Just wondering if anyone has done this qualification and if they would recommend it.

I’m 22 and a registered nurse. Since qualifying last year I’ve had more and more regret that I didn’t pursue a career in science. (I originally planned on doing a degree in either molecular biology or microbiology prior to switching to nursing in sixth year (ireland) during Covid)

I wouldn’t be able to afford quitting my full time job to go back to a traditional university (definitely couldn’t justify it after just completing a nursing degree) so open university seems the most logical option as it would allow me to keep working full time while studying. I work three day shifts or four nights shifts (13 hours) a week so realistically I would have to choose the part time mode of the course.

I suppose I’d love to hear others experiences especially those who are completing or completed the BSc Biology or another STEM related course.
I’m definitely worried about the implications of not gaining practical lab experience during the degree, has anyone struggled as a result of this?

I've just seen on the L103 (beginner's German) Forum that there won't be a Languages Culture day this coming academic year.

I went on this year's one, and met French, German and Spanish students from levels 1,2 and 3. I just assumed it was an annual event because there were people who had attended on previous years.

Exploring options for an open course and wanted to know if MST124 (Essential mathematics 1) is better than T194 (Engineering: mathematics, modelling, applications) for preparing for Core Engineering A & B

So, I'm a 22 year old EU citizen living in Belgium, and I'm looking to do the BA (Honours) Language Studies. Given that I'm financially independent and living on my own, I can't afford to do the course in three or even four years, and I don't want to use credit or loans to finance my studies. I'm looking into scholarships offered where I live, but I'm not confident that I would qualify, since I'm not a Belgian citizen and I would be studying through an UK institutions. So, my best option financially would be to study part-time, over 6 years, which would also be easier to balance with work and life. However, the thought of getting an online degree at only 28, leaves me concerned about job prospects. Right now, I work in hospitality, and although I could raise in it over the next years, I don't know if my experience would look favorably. OU is by far the best institution offering online degrees, all EU initiatives are mostly national and don't have the same structure, support and community that OU has, so I would really like to hear some thoughts.

Has anyone done this module? If so, how difficult is it, and how much time did you spend a week on it? thinking of doing this alongside SK298 or SK299

I've done my first year of Uni, took a year off for personal reasons, and now a part me dreads going back.

Given the economic climate of the UK and the depressing job market, I just don't think the future debt of trad uni is worth it. I know some people who do Uni online whilst simultaneously working. One in a law firm and another in the public sector(something to do with accounting).

With the global lockdown from the pandemic and the teacher strikes in the last few years, it's just made me not want to rely and give so much money to trad Uni. I want to simultaneously learn and earn (apprenticeships were very competitive).

I've had a job whilst doing sixth form and again at throughout Uni. I just feel like it the level of debt isn't worth it. There have been times where im physically in a lecture watching the slideshow and I think 'I could do this at home'. To be clear, I do commute to my Uni and live at home to just prevent extra debt...and because the horror stories of flatmates really threw me off.

I just want to know what the experience is like since im not really into the Uni lifestyle anyway. I only had the energy to join one student news paper(great experience) and no clubs or societies at all.

Seeking information support for individual I am supporting who is partially sighted and an older adult. We really need to hit the ground running in September I would be eternally grateful support, we know already there are different types of assessment such a PowerPoint pres and formulation report and counselling observation video and a final essay about improving health in a fictitious town. My EMA is due on 3 June and my previous assignment from 11 May is still not graded. Any idea what I should do at this point? Wanted to hold off calling student services since I have a bad cold and can’t talk much but even then what can they do? 😭 at this point it’s been 15 working days.

My previous TMA on my English Literature course was returned 26th April, and I was advised it had been flagged for Academic Misconduct for my referencing. I admit it was maybe poor, even though I was still relatively pleased with my mark, but I am now a bit confused on the misconduct. I have had no correspondence over the last 6 weeks from anyone regarding this, not even an acknowledgement. Does anyone have any experience with this or idea a time frame? I have just submitted my EMA for my 6th and final year, which is due back end of July, so I would hope it can be sorted out at least by then so I can get my final result and finish completely. Also having it over hanging is not fun especially knowing I haven't cheated or performed anything against conduct - It has really confused me.

Hello all. I am strongly considering studying mathematics and statistics with OU beginning in October. I will be travelling a lot for work so the online study is ideal. I would like to then (if possible) transfer to a brick university in Ireland , and would be hopeful that I would be able to go into year two of a given study , (obviously one with significant overlap). I am Irish and achieved good results in my leaving cert a few years ago , and as a 23 year old am looking for a little more security I guess. I would really appreciate anyone with experience /advice on the matter to divulge their thoughts on the matter .
