Can they be reduced similar to "Later, gator."

Yes, it's common to just say "ha det på badet".

so, 'see you in the bath', or 'see you in the bathroom'?

Bathroom, yep. Doesn't make a lot of sense, it's probably just because it rhymes and toilets are vaguely funny.
