I have a question about introducing yourself at a Norwegian function...how do you say it besides just “Jeg heter..”. I have heard people say something something” hilse”. Sounds to me like they are saying what would be in English “I should probably introduce myself...” like after an awkward amount of time has passed.

Honestly most of the time, introductions don't involve full sentences, they go like "Hei, Kristian, hyggelig". May be preceded by awkwardness or some string of softeners like "nei vi får vel kanskje hilse"
