Arthur Teachers Fish and Chips

A couple of us were having a discussion on older restaurants and having a disagreement on where the Arthur Teachers Fish and Chips was located (more like multiple senior moments). Anyone remember with any certainty?

I don’t ever remember one of those in Newport. There used to be a Long John Silvers free standing location

We were all pretty sure there was one. But we were talking the 70s.

Could be, I didn’t live in the area until 80’s….

I believe that was the restaurant on 27 in Southgate that later became a bar called The Office. That bar caught fire and closed a decade or so ago. It used to have the shingled roof facade that the old Treacher's had.

Actually, I just recalled that the restaurant was Squire Jack's fish and chips.

The only Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips I remember was in Covington, next to Johnny's Car Wash and across from Holmes High School.

That's not an area I was familiar with at the time. The only places in Covington I went to in the late 70's / early 80's was the old Army/Navy store on Madison near 4th, the Armed Forces recruiting station across the street and that used bookstore on the corner of Scott and 16th streets.

I appreciate your comment. Someone else I was speaking to, thought it was further south where Monmouth becomes Alexandria Pike.

The Army/Navy store on Madison Avenue was an awesome place. I bought a lot of stuff there, mainly winter coats in the winters of 1977 & 1978.
