Obama had the biggest democratic mandate in a generation and was undone by what came down to incredibly mild healthcare reform that didn’t even include a public option.

Are people outside the DT stupid? Was nobody here alive before the ACA? holy shit man. You used to be kicked off your insurance if you got asthma. You had lifetime caps on the amount of care you received. Yes health insurance in our country is not perfect, but it is so, so, so much better than it was pre-2008

Also people don’t understand that democrats from deep red states back then were still very much of a red state type (though still miles better than any republican)

Bro I had redditors call me evil in 2016 for saying that Bernie was not the first person to talk about healthcare while running for president and he wasnt even the first person in his own primary race to make it a national issue. Hillary Clinton became the devil to Republicans because she was the universal healthcare lady.
