Episode Discussion Terra Short
I'm always surprised how inclusive this show became. There's been gay and lesbian survivalists, a double amputee survivalist I believe, and the main focus of this post...a trans survivalist named Terra! I really like her! She seems very kind and laid-back. I like how she's treated with respect and how her assigned partner doesn't judge her for being trans. He even relates to how it feels to not always fit in. Terra does tell us what it's like to experience transphobia which I think is a good thing to talk about, even if it's something small like losing followers, that's still upsetting. I feel like this episode is good for people to learn about what it means to trans, I say that because a big demographic for this show is middle-aged adults who are probably conservative. Some will probably quit watching the show out of a blind rage but maybe others will feel enlightened by this.

Terra was great and it was a crying shame Shaun hit his head and they couldn’t go through together.
I’ll never not hate the term phobia used in the context of trans or gay people etc. though. I can’t remember who coined the phrase but it’s not a phobia, you’re not afraid, you’re just an asshole.

Terra is hardcore. They've had some pretty major injuries and heatstroke over the course of their NAA journey which would have had others tapping in a heartbeat, but they stuck it out : RESPECT 👊

YESSSS! Everything you said. Some of us live where the Trans community is pretty nonexistent so, though ive always supported the LGBT+ community, theyre just not seen here. To see Terra being themselves and allowing us to see their struggles and let us into their thoughts and humanity is very enlightening. Just seeing them as a regular person doing regular people stuff, really normalizes the whole Trans group. Theyre just people. Thanks Terra for being on the show, and thanks N&A for having them.

I was super stoked to see a trans person on the show! I’ve been a big fan of the show since it first aired, and seeing representation here makes my heart sing.

Not terrible episodes either. It was nice to see Terra make a monumental fuckup like leaving behind the firestarter, but then accept the error and fix the mistake. Survival is not a game of being cocky afterall, its about planning and willpower. (IMO) Nature has few prejudices i guess.

I follow Terra on social media. They are engaged to Janis, the medic who did a challenge a couple years ago (Season 15, Episode 7, titled “Taste of Their Own Medicine,” which aired April 2, 2023.)
Two of the most solid human beings out there. They have all my support and love and respect! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

Never expected how survivalism and the show has a way a bringing like-minded people together. NAA feels like a growing family sometimes.

Yesss Terra! I haven't tuned in awhile/rewatched but I remember her. :) But we've also got uh, was it Quince Mountain? He's trans as well. It's been great seeing this representation.
