Adam is kind of a dick
I (M26) am rewatching the whole series for the first time since I was probably in my early to mid teens and to this day Adam pokes a lot of fun about how Jamie is basically a big fart and doesn’t have any fun or a sense of humor. When I was younger I was thinking the same thing but now that I’m officially chopped and unc at 26 I’m realizing that Jamie is perfectly pleasant and is actually the more tolerable and even at a lot of times the nicer of the hosts. Small comments in the early seasons to the mythterns especially really point of out the type of person that Adam is. He’s an egotistical dickhead who can’t stand being around people smarter than him. Which sucks because a lot of the other cast members are at the very least AS smart as him if not noticeably smarter (Kari, Jamie, and Grant ((RIP)) notably) and he just hated being wrong. Which he was a lot.

I think he kind of played it up for the camera. The show wouldn't have been half as entertaining if they were both as reserved as Jamie. I think there is a kernel of truth in what you're saying, but I think Adam was aware of that and kind of leaned into it for the sake of making entertaining television.

That makes sense it is still reality tv. And especially considering his current ventures he just seems very excited to be able to do what he’s doing

That is so odd that you say that! I recently rewatched the series and always thought Adam was too goofy when I was younger(mid teens). Upon rewatching, also at a similar age as you I found Adam to be much more enjoyable and Jamie was often the less tolerable. Especially how he dismisses Adam’s ideas. The two had great chemistry even though it was abrasive for them. Such an enjoyable show. And watching Adam’s newer stuff it’s great to see how much he has grown as a person.

I’m still in the early seasons too so maybe I just need to keep watching and I’ll feel it chill out idk 🤷

You still have to mature :) its alright.
Mutual respect while also maintaining good television is different from being a dick.

Talking about mutual respect while starting off the comment with an insult lmao get a load of this guy 😭😭😭

I wouldn't think maturity would be considered an insult, but you taking it that way would indicate a lack of it.
Its alright, we've all thought we were more adult than we are... its part of maturing. You got this 👍, Adam wasn't a dick.

Taking me calling someone else’s behavior from 20+ years ago as a persona front to your own feelings is the real immaturity but c’est la vie. Best of luck in life to you homie

If you're coming to that conclusion, maybe you should check out more of the behind-the-scenes content, special interviews and perhaps the Mythfits podcast on YouTube where Tory and Kari talk about their experiences, along with Adam Savage's own channel, Tested. Almost any question you can think of has been answered by at least one of them. Also, I suggest watching this MythBusters Revealed episode.
Adam and Jamie are obviously two very different personalities. Adam is very emotional and spontaneous, while Jamie isn't. That's true both in front of and behind the camera, but obviously it's more amplified while filming. They both admit that while they weren't exactly the best of friends, their different views and approaches to any problem helped to get the job done.
As for the other cast members, well, obviously intelligence is not a one-dimensional thing (thank the education system for continuing to push the "IQ" myth on people). Grant and Jamie had notable experience in electronics. Adam's background was in practical special effects. Kari and Tory rose through the ranks because of perseverance and hard work. Kari has openly admitted in their podcast that she really didn't know much at all before she joined the team - another fine example of 'fake it till you make it!'

Seen this idea posted before and most people seemed to agree with your line of thought. BigHeadDickHead

It sounds to me like you're taking preconceived notions and looking for reasons to justify them. As far as I'm aware, everyone on the show and crew except Jaime was friendly with Adam, and Jaime at least had a professional respect for him. Hell, it was Jaime's idea to bring Adam onto the show in the first place.
And "hated being wrong"? What are you talking about? Several times on the show he was simply giddy that something didn't go the way he thought it would.
