4ths tuning

Why don’t metal guitarists use 4ths tuning. Seems like it would simplify everything as far as learning the fingerboard. Seems like it is tailor made for metal especially.

I keep saying that moving to a 7-string or 8-string would have me move to 4ths, because then I'd move on and stop playing "traditional" guitar, so the same licks would work high or low.

Last year, my drummer let me borrow her 8-string, and honestly, I could only logically make my mind and hands work with EAEADGBE, the low two being an octave down from the next two. So much about how I think about music is built into the D G B that makes an open G tuning in the middle of E standard. I don't think I could work my way around an all-fourths tuning.
