Discusson Call off coverage

Finding coverage for call offs is rough.

How many of your are getting bonus shifts or have an on-call schedule to help cover call offs?

We have an on call schedule for nights and if you get called in you get time and a half i think. Other wise the other shifts just try to spread out to cover the missing person, someone might try to call someone to see if they want to come in to help but idk about them getting extra pay for that. If a second shift person calls out someone on first shift might be able to do a double in which case overtime pay is a good incentive.

Wouldn’t it be time and half anyway because if somebody is coming in extra, it’s overtime?

Not necessarily, you can be on call without working that day or even that week. Per diems/ part timers/ night shifters that do 7 on 7 off/ ect
