Discusson Skopio cell analyzer
Is the Skopio any good? How does it compare to CellaVision?

We had a scopio for about a year and are returning it for a second cellavision. Since it is not random access it was too much to wait for it to finish a slide holder of slides. The cellavision we have you can just keep loading new holders and it just goes to the next when it is done.
It also uses a dry optic so I has to have overslept (*coverslip)and oil. But everything is fragile to the oil inside...
Also we couldn't use the top slide holder location because it kept breaking the fork so out of 3 areas only 2 were allowed to be used.
The solution to many broke coverslips and slides was to turn it off and open it and take them out with your hands! Like wtf? At one point it was just a glass factory.
The software glitches a lot and will make you turn off the analyzer to troubleshoot. The optics will not take WBC photos in focus a lot and the rest looks fine, no one can seem to understand why it is doing this, they have updated many times, happens less but still does it. Also the PLT est varies wildly because it will pick a decent area to count on one slide then go to the thickest part of a slide and say the patient had 1000 plus when they are like a 200 count.
It does have different slide modes like a fast different, whole slide including feathered edge. Just a warning, this takes on average 10 to 20 minutes PER SLIDE!
Also ours got to where it would not analyze more than 2 slides in any amount of racks because there are two areas on the stage. This is due to the fork again and yes it has been replaced many times.
I could go on. But thankfully we had our cellavision and was going to move it to a sister hospital and that never happened. Message me if you have questions! I hate BC and love sysmex but despite voting for sysmex and Abbott we chose the cheapest, beckman coulter! Hah

Also beckman said it would connect to our heme line, that has never come to fruition. Also the big sales person who sold us ours at beckman, has left to work for cellavision. And that should tell you everything you need to know.

I'd like to know too. We have had CellaVision for 17 years. There was a guy who presented Scopio to us and it seemed decent. It just didn't have a connection to Sysmex's track and it would be a hassle to load the slides manually into Scopio
