Congrats!!! I just finished my first year. My biggest tip is to save all the notes and textbooks from your classes so you can refer to them while studying for the BOC. I took immunology last fall and istg I forgot most of it. My summer is going to be spent reviewing information. Also make sure you know enough about the disease states to pass the test, but you won’t be diagnosing in the real world. Good luck!

I would also say to try to study from the exam study books while you’re in class too!

Congratulations to pursuing becoming a nationally recognized board-certified medical laboratory professional

Do your best. Don't let anyone or anything discourage you. Seek mentors and network with successful colleagues who can guide and assist you  Healthcare and patient care needs you.  Best to you

In my opinion, it's much better to give 110% in the beginning of the courses, rather than playing any degree of catch-up. In most classes, there is basic theory that you can extrapolate to make learning the rest easier. Bust your ass to learn that basic theory, and the rest of the semester will be much easier.

I just finished my first year of MLT school and I second this. Getting the basic theory down really helps especially during exam time when there’s so much to try to remember. Having that in the back of your mind will give you something to fall back on if you don’t remember an answer, that way you can try to work/talk yourself through it.

Canadian or American program? Advice can vary wildly depending on which country you’re studying in.
