Re: Emily's question about mud blocking the infrared signal:
Everything emits infrared radiation, with hot objects emitting it at greater intensity and a higher average frequency. Side note: this is the same phenomenon that eventually produces "red hot" and "white hot" effects, where the material is so hot that its thermal emission spills into the visible spectrum. Essentially, anything in daily experience that isn't red hot is still infrared hot.
As far as I remember from physics classes, the specific determining factor for what color/intensity is emitted is the *surface* temperature, because a hot interior's emitted energy will be absorbed by a cooler surface before it can pass into the environment. The point of all this is that the question is entirely based on the temperature of the outer surface of Mud-Dutch.
Wet Mud-Dutch is indeed fairly likely to be masked because that wet mud is probably still cold, with some suspension of disbelief about how thin that mud is on him, not to mention the likelihood of his open eyes or breath to reveal him. Dry Mud-Dutch is another matter: at that point, his caked-on mud exterior will probably have risen to match his skin temperature, and he should be perfectly visible.

you're overthinking it. it is an eighties action movie where a guy fights an alien with a laser cannon. the mud works because the script says it works. physics takes a backseat to arnold covered in dirt every single time.

Hey, Emily asked the question in the episode and I'm just answering it. I absolutely agree it doesn't matter for the sake of the movie.

This episode convinced me that Predator is actually a really well written movie. So much effective characterization happening through show not tell.

Question for Jordan-he's mentioned rules for Godzilla he had to abide by for his Godzilla comic. Are there rules for Predator?
