Good Day at Annapolis Rock

Over the past several years I hiked a bunch of trails in the Appalachian Mountains. I passed by the trail to Annapolis Rock many times but never went on it. A couple of fellow Marylanders said I was missing out, so we decided to go on a day trip.

I was not disappointed. What a cool place and a majestic view towards Hagerstown and beyond! The rock felt old; I read that the Appalachians are hundreds of millions of years old, and so have been worn down. But a good kind of old--the rock was an attractive jumble, still rising above the trees and standing proud. After we also went swimming in nearby Greenbrier Lake, which felt really refreshing.

So thank you to Maryland for this rock, and thank you to Annapolis Rock! May you continue to stand proud and tall for millions of years yet to come.

There are a lot more trees in Annapolis than I thought

I was wondering about that, since Annapolis is almost a hundred miles to the east. Any idea why the rock is called that?

Shocking but true: Annapolis Rock isn't in Annapolis. Its barely in the same state.
