It's like it's illegal to use basic car features

Or people choose to XXX the turn signals from the options list!

They buy the Dumb Ass(tm) edition. It comes without turn signals.

Ha! You think Maryland's bad, I lived in middle Tennessee for about a decade and a half before I moved back home, and I saw maybe a half dozen turn signals the entire time I lived there.
And I'm pretty sure that half of those were people hitting the signal stalk accidentally while they were trying to activate wipers or high beams.

u/BikerBeau Sep 01 '25
Moved back here from Tullahoma. Only place I’ve almost been killed repeatedly on my bike from bad drivers.

Ridiculous. "Picked clean crustacean shells," maybe, but the whole thing?
16
u/Ocean2731 Prince George's County Aug 31 '25
Yeah, I’m not wasting good crabmeat. I’ll put shells and the innards into the weapon and shoot those. The enemy will be hit with stuff that’s both sharp edged and smelly.

Aug 31 '25
I assumed alive, that way it has a small chance to cause additional AOE damage and a moderate change to frighten lower level enemies.

u/methedoutmanatee Aug 31 '25
Have you ever lived in Florida? I thought VA had the worst drivers as a Marylander.
Florida is another level. As everything in Florida is haha. More old people and people that don’t give a fuck. And def more meth heads.
6
u/WildTomato51 Aug 31 '25
Or stay out of the passing lane when not passing.
2
u/EconomistSea1444 Sep 02 '25
That is the true Marylander, camping out in the fast lane. The lack of turn signal use was something I never really noticed in MD.
2
u/Sacr3dangel Sep 02 '25
No the true Marylander camps in the fast lane for 70miles then upon reaching his exit turns his steering wheel right to cross 4 lanes of traffic without the use of his turn signal (and also, but not most notably, doesn’t stick his head out of the window shouting: “I TURN RIGHT NOW, good luck everyone else”) crossing the white triangle separating the main road from the off ramp, cutting somebody off that actually did it right. And all this without ever slowing down.

We do not use crustaceans as ranged weapons! That is total bs! We use the shells of crustaceans as ranged weapons.

u/Cat_tophat365247 Sep 01 '25
I use my turn signals. It makes me throw up a little in my mouth every time, but I use them.....

u/Sir_Earl_Jeffries Aug 31 '25
I have two theories. Car manufacturers have started offering cars without the turn signal package to bring the MSRP down. When you do get the indicator package, there’s a per blink charge.
2
u/ataraxia_555 Aug 31 '25
I support theory one, and have often ranted that while on the roadway. Anything to save a buck! (That’s why a scary percent of cars are uninsured or under-insured, too.)

u/MaleficentDraw1993 Aug 31 '25
I've waited it feels like months for them to post this.

u/MarshyHope Aug 31 '25
Dude for real. Every time I see a state that's not Maryland I just think to myself, fuck Idaho, get to the crab state already

One more side note. Please remember to cut the signal off. Nothing worse than driving for miles behind a guy with his turn signal on.

Between the potholes and maniacs passing you on the shoulder at 200 mph, turn signals have fallen off my radar.

I love being a cop here bro, just the joy of pulling MD drivers over gives me life. Idk why we have the worst drivers imaginable here (and they almost always have VA tags which is dumb because you have to pay property taxes on VA vehicles)
6
u/Safari-West Aug 31 '25
Exactly! Car tax on my Explorer was over $1,000. I couldn't wait to get it out of Virginia. Insurance was cheaper though.
3
u/Ajaws24142822 Howard County Aug 31 '25
It’s cheaper but in the long run you’re spending $$ paying the property tax
9
u/gravybang Aug 31 '25
I know you aren't a cop because real Maryland cops don't enforce traffic laws.
3
u/Ajaws24142822 Howard County Aug 31 '25
Usually no but when I got nothing to do I like running traffic.
MSP and MTA, now THOSE are the guys who basically ONLY run traffic
or NSA police but they’ll get like 1 traffic arrest every two years while the rest of the time they hang out and pull security details at Meade. I’ve heard that’s a pretty chill gig because you get good pay and a Top Secret security clearance to basically do jack shit 99% of the time
6
u/gravybang Aug 31 '25
Isn't their only job to search the cars of confused people who took the poorly marked NSA exit by mistake?
6
u/Ajaws24142822 Howard County Aug 31 '25
No they still patrol the roads around Meade and have MD Law Enforcement certification so they can pull over vehicles and issue tickets/arrest for DUI etc.
They have the same authority as local PD in Maryland because they’re both fed and they go to extra training for MD law enforcement certification so they get double cert.
Which is honestly pretty good if someone wants to work fed but doesn’t wanna leave MD I always recommend they apply for that
Because not only are they already in the Fed and can go to other agencies or go internal in the NSA, they can also easily lateral to other MD agencies without taking another academy, so it’s a HUGE door opener. That’s the biggest benefit of NSA police is just that it accesses a TON of opportunity
plus it’s easy as hell according to the ones I’ve talked to, they say they get paid to basically fuck around and since the NSA is an office building, they get normal M-F schedules and overtime pay on weekends.
Not rotating shifts like regular LE

We're just giving you guys a taste of your own medicine

u/Ajaws24142822 Howard County Aug 31 '25
VA tags are almost always MD residents (which I love giving tickets to after I find out they’ve had an MD address for longer than 6 months because that’s illegal, get your shit registered)
2
u/AmbiguousUprising Sep 01 '25
Honestly 95% of the bad driving I see isnt a skill / knowledge issue. It some jackass who feels entitled to ignore queues/red lights/stop signs/turn lanes, because they are SOOOOOO important with their 10 year loan on a "fancy" car.
1
1
u/resiste55 Sep 04 '25
Nah it's not the fancy cars, those drivers most likely have insurance & up to date registrations because their loans require it & in my experience are more law abiding drivers unless they lack skills which is also way common. It's mostly the VA tags which are ubiquitous in Baltimore, & expired registrations. Zero enforcement here for that with resulting predictably obstreperous behavior. Exceptions of course for the beltway & interstates which are total shitshows of knuckleheaded driving.

What video game or movie is this from
3
u/MarshyHope Aug 31 '25
Fallout 3
-1
u/eyesmart1776 Aug 31 '25
Wow I don’t remember this at all in the game
7
u/MarshyHope Aug 31 '25
Lol I'm just kidding. This Facebook page posts them for every state. It's made up
5
u/morgan423 Aug 31 '25
Skyrim is the obvious inspiration though.
8
u/MarshyHope Aug 31 '25
Absolutely, but Fallout 3 takes place in Maryland/DC and is also made by Bethesda, a Maryland company (who also made Skyrim)
1
u/eyesmart1776 Aug 31 '25
So it’s not IRL at all?
6
u/MarshyHope Aug 31 '25
I'm sure someone in Maryland had been assaulted by a crab at one point or another

2
u/CharmCityKid09 Aug 31 '25
Lies and slander. Plenty of MD drivers use turn signals. What they don't do is use them when they're completely unneeded.

u/PureGazelle9696 Aug 31 '25
It’s awful. So many drivers that don’t seem to understand we have to have some sort of team mind / harmony & share the road, like a hive mind school of fish.
I use my turn signal 100% of the time and see some people immediately speed up or worse, not let me in anyway, or just let me ride for a long while. Not everyone is like that, of course. Some people speed up to let me in (when there’s no one behind them) and I slow down so I can change over gracefully. Or they do slow down and offer space. Thanks to those.
I agree, not using turn signal is gross. It’s basic communication.
I can understand that if a driver doesn’t communicate and just shoves or tries to push their way in, it can frustrate other drivers.

u/mst3kzz Aug 31 '25
The turn signal is perfect for getting the car slowly passing you in the left lane to hurry up and pass you already.

I am old enough to remember when we hated PA DC, DE And NJ drivers. Now they all live here and their kids can’t drive either!

u/Timely_Squirrel_7307 Sep 01 '25
Oh come on. Here is the reality of driving the DMV. If you turn that signal on people WILL block you. I normally click mine on as get in the lane not ahead of time. Sorry that is real. It sucks but that is life here.
1
u/TumTumMac24 Sep 01 '25
Aww man and here I am one of the 3 or 4 people EVER born in Maryland allergic to fish and shellfish, I can’t even use my ranged attack, and my costume sucks.

u/MadlyToxic Sep 02 '25
Turn signals were, when I started driving, considered a courtesy. Has that changed?

Me thinks cars to be driven in Prince George’s County are not equipped with turn signals. OR everyone has run out of “blinker juice”.

It's not that we can't use turn signals. If u use a turn signal someone will purposely not let you over.
