Hi, F33/M33, I have a child from a previous relationship and we have been ttc on and off for about three years. He was very much in denial about MFI being a possible issue until finally getting a negative home fertility test about a month ago. This past Friday, he went to a urologist appointment where we learned that he had smaller than average testes; doctor expressed concerns about volume and briefly touched on prescribing medication as a next step after bloodwork so this week he will go for the following lab work:
CBC
CMP14
FSH and LH
Prolactin
Testosterone, Free, Total
semen analysis, motility count
We have been together for about a decade and after his appointment, he shared that he’s had concern about the size/volume of his testes since high school, but now having it confirmed is really distressing him emotionally. Truly, he is just devastated, even calling out of work which is very unlike him. I know support looks different for everyone, however we don’t have a support system for this experience, so I am here just wanting to know how to best support him right now, in the early days of this already long journey. He keeps apologizing and calling himself useless. Beyond reassurance, like for him as a man coming from me as his wife, what else can I offer to help him cope with this? Also are there any questions you wished you as sooner or other tests to ask about? Thanks for reading
