Discussion Suggestions for recovery

Having my MTese on Wednesday. I bought a few different things like jockstrap and tight boxers with ice sleeves (although I don’t know how helpful that will actually be) I was wondering if anyone else has any other suggestions for me. I’m super nervous but trying to stay positive and not let it all affect me. But when I avoid the negative thoughts , I also avoid the preparation I need. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Good luck Wednesday man - the nerves are totally normal. The jockstrapGood luck Wednesday man - the nerves are totally normal. The jockstrap is a lifesaver those first few days, way more comfortable than regular underwear. Stay on top of your pain meds even if you feel okay, trust me. is a lifesaver

Buy several of the small felt ice packs (soft ones). My husband was pretty much on 24/7 ice for a while so having at least 3-4 to switch out.

Also, get a stool softener and/or laxative. The pain meds will back you up and that was not a fun experience when you’re swollen and sensitive down there (or so my husband said!)

I heard peas and carrots are helpful so I’ll be buying that and just last night my wife told me about a stool softener. So going to be buying those. Thank you!

Had mine on the 12th of May, last month. Still in my recovery phase. Good you've got a jogstrap, stick to your pain meds and avoid a shower on your first day, but you can have a wash. You might find the jogstrap a bit inconvenient, if you're not used to it. But i believe you should be OK after the first week; I'd stop my pain meds after the first week. But again everyone is different, and I'll advice you take 2 weeks off work. This about the 3rd week of my recovery, and I'm struggling to find any scars of the sugery already.

I wish you all the best...

I just had mine today and as far as what I was expecting it was very smooth and not that bad (was dreading it). Arrived at 630am and was out of there I think at 12ish. Felt like my whole life was hinged on this procedure, just stuck in limbo for the past year, and the moment it was over was a huge sigh of relief before I even knew the results which has seemed like the best part. I did go fully under anesthesia tho so just like taking a nap. The team members leading up to going under were just very reassuring everything was going to go fine which helped. The local anesthetic I don’t think has worn off cus I’ve been walking around in this jockstrap with gauze all day (and occasionally an ice pack) with minimal discomfort.

Best of luck. It sucks for anyone to have to do this but so far it was a manageable experience.
