Discussion M-TESE in Tampa FL or surrounding areas?
Hoping some of you are in or from Tampa to give us some advice!
Wife (26) and I (29) have been dealing with non obstructive azoospermia for about 2 years now. I’ve always had a lower sperm count but had always had sperm until about two years ago where I’ve had consistency results at 0. We’ve done STAR where they found a few rare sperm but non le usable for IVF. We are now looking into having the MTESE but aren’t super impressed with our current urologist
Has anyone had success in Tampa finding a good surgeon for MTese? I know the best ones are in other states, but with the strain this is already taking it would be ideal to at least stay in FL.
Any help would be much appreciated from this community!

We’re in Orlando, and I know Sijo Parekattil in Winter Garden is frequently recommended. I’ve also heard good things about the urologist at UM and the one at UF.

Fantastic thank you! Will look into him!
Do you happen to know the names of the UM and UF doctors?

It’s Dr Campbell at UF, I believe it’s Dr. Pagani at UM.

Will look into these thank you! It’s so hard to find anything about Florida doctors on the internet related to MTese procedure

Totally understand! We went out of state since our clinic has a urologist but he doesn’t do the surgery in Florida.

Do you mind me asking or PMIng you about how your process was with out of state? It’s not completely off the table for us just hoping to find someone in FL since we figure if we find anything we’d have to transfer it to FL for IVF

We had a great experience at UM. Our urologist left last summer and went to NJ though, so can’t speak to the doctors there currently.

What was your process if you don’t mind me asking? did you just call to schedule a consult then had the procedure?

Pretty much. My husband already had multiple semen samples with nothing from my clinic and they also had done labs a few times before we were referred to UM by my RE. My RE texted our urologist and then someone reached out to schedule. We met with the urologist in person once and he examined my husband and ordered labs for microdeletion, etc. After we had those labs back, we scheduled a telehealth appt and talked about next steps and mtese. Once we were ready to tentatively schedule mtese (we did it timed with egg retrieval), we called and let them know and then we had one additional telehealth appt before for us to ask questions and walk through mtese.

Did the MTESE have results?

Yes, at least 18 sperm were found (I had 18 mature eggs retrieved and they attempted to fertilize all). We ended up with 7 embryos (3 euploid, 1 low level mosaic, 1 high level mosaic, 1 inconclusive, and 1 aneuploid) and just had our son 2 and a half weeks ago!

Following this! My husband is going through this currently. We found out in December of last year. Multiple imaging and tests. Nothing to show signs he should have NOA. They recommend he start clomid? Next step would be a MTESE. Trying to avoid IVF since I’m type 1. Please let me know if you find any local doctors to Tampa/st Pete/ Sarasota area 🫶🏼
