Discussion [ALL] life is strange 2 haters

i personally saw a couple comments on people who dumb down the lis2 story to just being “racially aware” and it’s annoying.

this may be a bad opinion to some of you, but the story is so much more than that. yes, the boys face some pretty racist issues throughout the story. but i feel like the story has so much more depth than that.

their mother left them, their father raised them and then died, they had to run away and survive in the woods, they ran off with some hippies that preyed on sean, daniel literally was indoctrinated into a cult, sean had to fight tooth and nail to get him out, and then they had to escape to the mexican border, where sean could be killed if you choose certain choices, or he could’ve been imprisoned and would take the blame for daniel just to give him a chance to live a better life.

the story is about sacrifice and brotherhood. these boys were depicted in the beginning to not be too fond of each other. daniel would having a sibling squabble with sean, then would try to interact with sean a couple minutes later . then sean would ignore daniel. it’s a classic brother/little brother relationship where the older brother wouldn’t pay too much attention to his little brother because he’s a growing teenager.

then he had to pick up his little brother’s unconscious body to escape law enforcement because of the fake blood and the fight that happened. the whole story is about sean not wanting to get separated from daniel. he basically became a father to him. he teaches him to make good choices (or bad ones) and he also builds his confidence with daniel’s powers. he even meets up with his grandparents because daniel was sick, the people that housed and birthed his deadbeat mother. and then he even meets up with that deadbeat mother to seek shelter from the police. he sacrifices his own feelings and grudges so his little brother could be safe.

i think chalking this story up to only be about racism is just missing the point of the story. yes, the boys experience that (and i disagree with people saying it’s exaggerated, because it very much isn’t. these kind of racist/prejudice people still exist and mexicans, even mexican americans, still face horrible racism from them today.)

just because they experience this horrible racism, it doesn’t mean that’s all they’re experiencing. racism plays a part in their story, but the story is 90% about sean trying to protect daniel from the consequences of his actions and to find a safe haven where daniel could live a life without fear.

Honestly I applaud to you. Someone finally understand the true nature of this game. I'm proud of you, well said. It's true racism plays a part but it's not the whole topic where they face challenges with brotherhood, living, freedom. All sorts of this frickin beautiful story and if they're too blind and ignorant to see that. That they're no better than deck 9
