OVMS

I purchased an OVMS for my 2017 Leaf SV shortly after I got the car two years ago, but I could never get the cellular service up and going. I decided to check around and hologram (the preferred sim for OVMS) has apparently partnered with T-Mobile now in the US and I was able to get one of their sim cards and got it up and going. So far it has been amazing. It isn't perfect, but I now feel much more in control of the car. I had to disconnect the temperature controls from the telematics unit, but now I can turn on the heat/air whenever I want, I don't have to run a timer and be plugged in. I can monitor charging while I am sitting at my desk at work. If anyone has been considering ordering one, especially for older Leafs, I say go for it. I don't really go on trips, but it also works with ABRP directly as well.

Where did you buy the OVMS module from? I attempted to buy one from the recommended North American distributor (Medlock and Sons), but ended up issuing a chargeback after they didn't get back to me for a few months. Did you end up purchasing it from Europe?

If so, did you get the version with the SIM card included or just the WiFi version?

They show up on eBay sometimes, and you can get them from the UK for less than the Medlock listing. I think it was open energy?
